music and race

I don't understand why there are hardly any trance addicts who are black. I'm a black person who loves trance, and just about any other type of music (i'll occasionally listen to rock but NO COUNTRY). anybody care to explain what they think?

uh...care to rephrase that? i think most of the people here are white or asian

do you mean the other way round (i.e few black trance addicts?) cos approx 90% of people in trance clubs are caucasian with the further 10 % being made of oriental, a few asian and the odd one or two black people.

I am a 22 year old black male, and I refuse to listen to anything BUT trance, house, techno, etc (check out the name). I can understand how you feel. I get so much shit from my friends because they all listen to fucking dumb ass rap music, saying that it represents black culture. Bullshit. Rap music is about glamourizing materialze things.

Maybe you should talk to your friends, and get them into trance as well. I'm sure you're like me though, the only guy in your school to listen to it

While I'm not flaming you, this thread is stupid, but also has a good point. The majority of trance fans are white. Though, look at drum and bass, hard-techno, or NL hardcore, house, hip hop theres lots of black DJ's and supporters, and its all electronic music.

You're correct in one way, that trance attracts mostly white people, whereas other genres in electronic dance music attract blacks.

Glad to see you won't fall into stereotypes. My high school senior is all into gansta rap, but my older and younger sons seem to be bent on heavy metal - those two both play guitars as well. Go figure, while old dad is here thumping day in and out on trance. Maybe they'll come around one of these days. It took me a while, mainly because they had to invent it first. Oh yeah, forgot about the race deal, the kids are Amerasian.
