Chemical Brothers feat. Q-Tip - Galvanize

This is the new single from the album Push the Button due for release on January 25. Apparently they've been playing it on Radio 1 and Sasha played it in his recent Puerto Rico set. This tracks is fucking great. You can check it out, as well as some info on the album, here: http://www.astralwerks.com/chemical/default.html

Apparently there are 12" promos with Galvanize out with a track called Rize Up on the flip. I haven't heard it but it's the Chem Bros. so I'm sure it is worth checking out.

Doesn't sound like the Chemical Brothers that made me fall in love with EDM all those years ago... meh

Agreed, but it's still an excellent track.

That's good then. The last thing I'd want to hear from the Chems in 2004 would be the same big beat/Loops Of Fury-horse they yamped it large with back in the 90s. Q-Tip on vocals will undoubtably make it harder to swallow for all the "omfg hip hop suckzzz!1"-people around here though..

Yeah, gotta agree with SL. It's only a good thing that the Chems are coming up with something different this time. A pretty cool track if you ask me..

Yep. I like it, although it is a bit repetitive. It will be interesting to see if they have another mix of this that they put on the album, much like what they did with the other EBW tracks.

I'd agree with you but their new direction seems to be a bit too radio friendly for my liking. All the edge they used to have seems to be gone in their latest releases. This one in particular sounds like just about any other mainstream hip hop track.

apparently they've been finishing on it regular at Urban Gorilla, so it can't be too bad
gonna check it out

yeah for sure.
let's hope their other stuff is going a diff direction than this

Sasha played it at crobar last friday and it went over really well.

It's got this weird mix of an old school hip-hop vibe and almost arabic vibe going for it. It's not their best work, and Mr. Mystery is definitely right in saying that it lacks that almost raw rock-and-roll energy of their early stuff, but I still think it's great for what it is.

Probably the best hip-hop track I've heard in years.

This track is one of the less favs of mine on the album,
but isn't the worst. Left Right is indeed the worst.

Fav track has to be Hold Tight London!
Album is full of fresh sounds, always good from Chem Bros.

Heres the problem with this track and many other Chem Bros Tracks. They start off strong but seem to go off on a tangent. Was it really necessary to say my finger is on the button about 40 times and play that awful sounding syunth beat? They tend to ruin their tracks about 4 mins in. Take a listen to where do i begin and hear how it starts to sound awful later in the track.

galvanize is one of my favourite tracks lately.

I'm really not too crazy about this track. It didn't impress me at all and I think they've done much better work.

Posted by montana on Jan-05-2005 23:22:

i said i liked it and i got the single now i'm fucking loving it, not that keen on rise up tho and the video for the track is mint aswell

i like this track, and Sasha's set was awesome.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-07-2005 13:46:

This is getting massive play on the radio and music channels over here by now. It's a fucking awesome track, way better than any of their last two albums.

Posted by [mart] on Jan-07-2005 20:13:

I kinda like it. Just.
