Best CD/MP3 Decks ?

Im saving to either get this:

Pionneer - 1000MK2 ( 698.67 each) (Dosnt play Mp3's i think ?)

or this:

NuMark CDX (550 Each)

But im not sure.Any idea which would be best (Armin VB says "i only trust 1000MK2" btw)

Anyone used the NuMark CDX ? want to know if theyre responsive enough.

CD/MP3 got to be the only way to go - how annoying is it when you cant find a vinyl you want?!

well for one the cdj-1000 doesn't play mp3s.

I'd go with the CDJ1000, it a sound visual...CDX would be the way to go if you're in for scratching.

I thought the CDJ did play mp3s?

Or am I thinking of the Denon S5000? (or 3000 rather?)

Posted by daeus on Dec-07-2004 21:26:

Yea i thought the MKs would play MP3 but obv not

thing is the price difference MK's - 698.67 each

NuMark CDX (550 Each)

Still anyone used the Numark CDX's yet ? want to know what they are pysically like

I personally like teh feel of the cdx. It feels almost identical to vinyl imo. I also like it's effects and mp3 playback quality. If i was in the market for a cd deck now, i would probably buy the cdx.

mp3 playability is not really that necessary. The price of cdr's are so low that it doesnt really matter to burn it to a cd in .wav (regular cd) format.

And yes, the Denon s5000 plays mp3s

Posted by daeus on Dec-07-2004 21:49:

yea i suppose converting to wav is an option, have to do it from 320kbs quality mp3s or more i rekon.

those Denon s5000's seem allot, hmm dj chex makes them sound really good

Posted by onceler on Dec-07-2004 22:13:

wasn't dj chex talking about the numark?

isnt there a store you can goto that has these you can try out? i have 1 cdj and 1 s5000, but i got them for unbeatable deals. If I was buying new, I would have gone to guitar center in the states and played around a bit.

The denon dns5000 is the best cd/mp3 deck around hands down.

The dns3000 is a good choice if you dont have the money.

^^^What he said.

Also, the CDX has pitch precision of %0.1(I think), whereas the CDJ has %0.02 precision, which is much better for mixing.

Im sure the numark deck has at least .05% precision, b/c my axis9 has that level, it just doesn't display in .05 place.

Posted by onceler on Dec-08-2004 04:27:

for the 2 dex i own, here are the precision...

Pioneer CDJ 1000
06% : .02
10% : .05 <-- Default at power-on
16% : .1
24% : .1 (The MKII hs 100% here)
Switch - simple button

Denon s5000
04% : .02
10% : .1
16% : .1
24% : .1 <-- Default at power-on
Switch - depress button for 2 seconds, use the "wonder knob" to adjust.

Didn't know that but it's good to know, I always thought people didn't like the CDX because of that. It would be interesting if since it reads the cd based on the "vinyl", if they just made the pitch analog(like the TTX-1) so the record could turn at whatever the precise rate the pitch was set at.
