anyone else think that it is pretty practical to use a laptop to do djing?
not at a major popular club in ibiza or some other cities but a normal house party or banquet party for the masses.
i saw a dj once use his laptop and just played songs. but it sucked cause he didn't at least mix it up. but it makes sense since he had musicmatch as a primary use for the mp3s.
personally i would use traktor to mix up the tunes a bit. not majorly mix it but just a little. and have a cd player hooked up to a mixer just in case someone hands me a cd to play.
i also once saw 2 ipods and a mixer hooked up together. that is insane. but practicla and mp3s are the future for djing.

many big dj's now use a laptop, coupled with finalscratch and some turntables. you can do pretty much anything you can do with turntables, with finalscratch.
yes it is kind of practical to carry just a laptop and one or two records to use with finalscratch, but i would rather watch someone use some form of deck than watch someone sitting and clicking.
but yes for home use, it is very practical and takes up a lot less space than a set of turntables.
