Hello! Anyone care to help me with recommendations? (prog house/breaks)

Im looking for tracks similar in style to

Cassius - The Sound of Violence (Narcotic Thrust Club Mix)
Planet Funk - Chase the Sun
Way Out West

Basically, non trance electronic dance music which is more accessible to non-trance enthusiasts and not so often heard on radio stations (i.e. basement jaxx, prodigy etc.).

Cheers for the help

planet funk - who said
planet funk - the switch

So basically you're looking for progressive house / progressive breaks.

There's a lot to work with there.

Way out West can do no wrong in my eyes. Everything I've heard from them has been gold, or at least decent.

Planet Funk is a bit cheesy (or at least that track is), but not bad.

I don't know if this qualifies, but give:
Simply Red - Fake (Love to Infinity mix)
Simply Red - Sunrise (Love to Infinity mix)

a shot. I can't really describe the sound. Some of my favorites though.

Another question I had in mind is what genre that music was?

Thanks for the heads up- will definitely check out the remixes of those simply red songs.

Im basically trying to get a soundtrack together for a party and putting pure trance on is just going to put off all the people not into the scene, and hip hop is just going to annoy me!

Some recent stuff (2004 i mean):
Pako & Frederik - 45 Minutes (Medway Remix)
Hybrid - I'm Still Awake (Grayarea Remix)
Hip Service - Badaboom Badabing
Derek Howell - What You Wanna Do
Hernan Cattaneo - Behind The Music
Hyper - Shock Proof / Outsider / Slapper (Great breaks not prog though)
U.N.K.L.E. - Reign (remixes) + their album Never Never Land
A lot of Trafik stuff, most of them are high quality prog or breaks including their album Bullet.
Most of these guys are known but still the tunes are massive. If u have the chance to buy Bullet, buy it

Try some Digital Witchcraft, they're more along the prog breaks line I'd say. They've got some great tunes, as well as a couple of great sets. I still listen to their February Oslo Nights set almost every day.

I started off with Luke Chable (still listening to them now), then went on to explore more stuffs by WOW, Hybrid, Grayarea, Fretwell, Shiloh, Sasha, James Holden, Madoka... n more.

Prog house/breaks = smart choice.
