Silence 2004, Delerium Featuring Sarah McLachlan

Why?

Eh, I think it has something to do with it being the 5 year anniversary of that track. And I think the same argument can be made for all of the recent 2004 remakes of 1999 tracks. Similarly, in 2003 Ronski Speed did a remix of Binary Finary - 1998.

I haven't heard it... don't really want to. Why fuck with the original? If you want an excuse to play it I doubt many people would care since the original is so fucking massive.

5 year anniversary ?

Silence was originally released in 1997 on the Karma Album making it 7 years old.

Nettwerk commisioned the new remixes of Silence for 2004 to promote the 'Best Of' Delerium album that was released a couple of months ago.

The Above & Beyond Mix of it is dire, but the Filterheadz Remix is something special and worthy of being a Silence remix.

However i agree, it has been remixed too many times now and even Delerium themselves, Rhys & Bill were not keen on it being released yet again with new remixes.
The Label (Nettwerk) own the copyright on the track and if they want to release it, they can and they did . .

I have to agree with Wicked Neo that the filterheadz remix is good, even though silence has been remixed over and over

It was a great track in the day, and the type of track you can handle hearing every now and again to bring back some old memories of wishing you were at Ibiza, however the current re-release has meant that its playing on commercial radio repetitively, and starting to get serious airtime at clubs, and this is turning a track that I thought was a classic become an annoying jingle.

I see what you're saying. Hell, I picked up the "2004" release of the vinyl with both the Tisto and Fade remixes simply because I did not have them yet. I have only played the vinyl once, for the exact reason you mentioned; it needs very little airplay.

Having said that, I've only heard the newer remixes canned. The Tisto and Fade remixes remain to be a rarity, which is nice, as they are the better ones. Enough with the remixes; leave the classics as classics and stop trying to "top" them for a quick buck.
