Still think this is one of the most impressive melodies to ever come from these boards. Fantastic work yet again. I might have to remix this track, melody seems like a dream to work with.

This is great, lovely powerful pads and synths. Simple but effective drums. Can definately see myself listening this when I arrive home after a heavy night out. Only criticism is, and I know it's ambient, but i'd still like to hear a little more bass in there. You know some deep sub bass playing long notes.

Great work

I already told you what I think of this track. The original still beats all mixes.

great intro - love the pads and the filtered bass.
a little to much reverb on the lead sound for my liking
Vey chill, awesome use of gating and pan on the pad that kicks in.
Overall, great tune. Sounds great!

Posted by Gladius on Dec-09-2004 22:14:

yeah maybe the original beats everything, but still, this is great. Just what I expect from a chillout tune. Quiete simple, but effective =)

Overall, I didn't like this tune very much. The reason is probably that I'm not into Chill music, but I could hear very many producer-mistakes in this one... That made it very unpleasent to listen to. But I know the original is good!

Delicious! I love chill out.. I think its part of a complete breakfast.

You've done a superb job here!! Thanks for sharing.

Ok let me start by saying, stick to the original cause you can of course make a chill version of a track, but IMO chill music or lounge is much more complicated than this. This is more a slowmotion version of the original. Winamp says 192 kbps but everyone can hear the samples used are not. Sound quality is really not good. Beat is put together too simple for me. And in here a beat draws attention in another way then in a trancer. And the real trancy sounds are far better off in a real trancer, where you are good at.

When it comes to melody, this is awesome of course. For a chill mix as well. But this mix doesn't work out well for me.

Hehe sorry to flame you Ron, but you need to speed up and use many sounds altogether, with this you dont do that!

Smile Tongue

hehe thanx for replies guys, and to Jay M and the rest, i didnt say it before but here it is:
i actually extended the breakbeat of the original mix, and made it shorter overall.
then i put it in traktor dj
then i lowered bpm all the way down to 90 bpm, and thats why it sounds not the best quality and its not the right elements of the real ambient style ... so anyways, thanx again

Hehe you naughty boy.

checking it out bro...u going to tiesto on sat?

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Dec-10-2004 02:29:

I like the effect you're going here. I'd say it's more ambient breaks than ambient trance.

That said, I was quite dissappointed when Winamp told me the song was three and a half minutes long. I'm sorry, but ambient is not three minutes. Ambient isn't even ten minutes. You need something like ten times this length to have ambient, as far as I care. Everything developed way too fast for ambient. It needed to be much more, well, ambient.

Posted by Jay M on Dec-10-2004 11:31:

Why cant ambient be 1 minute long...

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Dec-10-2004 11:38:

Oh, it can be one minute long. I'll just scream, throw a hissy fit and demand an extended mix every time.

U know i love this track mate, might have to remix it as well some day :P

Posted by MarkzMan_X on Dec-10-2004 13:26:

What's the deal with all those labels u guys put on this track?

"its too short for ambient, so thats why it sucks"

"the samples doesnt have good quality.." duh, its 90 BPM, done in Traktor

"it doesn't have enough sounds for chill-out, so it sucks"

Yea, whatever. Rules are for pussies.

Its great sunquest, a real chillout track in my opinion - dont listen to all these genre wankers.
It sounds brilliant to me - and the melody is really superb - i havent heard your Trance one so if you could sort me out with where i could hear it?

I have to agree i was talking to ron earlier today and said that this track is my fav of his so far. The melody is awesome. anywayz like jaym said its not true ambient but it works, but i guess the way you made it proves that. all good though.

Ron - i agree my all time fav is the same, carte blanche. Bad ass

Posted by ronk on Dec-10-2004 18:47:

Very nice chillout, liked it a lot, except from the drum-kick, I think it should be softer. Everything else's good. The melody is great.
BTW why did you lower the bpm in Traktor and not in Reason/Cubase/whatever you used?

Posted by TOR on Dec-10-2004 20:21:

the track's overcompressed and lacking a bassline

i agree with SoM that the melody is good

I didn't say that. I said that I didn't like it because it was too short. Long, meditative and complex to some degree is something I demand in ambient.

All that aside, why are you flaming people for ripping into an aspect of a track that they don't like? I thought that this forum was for producers to receive feedback on their tracks. It doesn't specify that it has to be positive feedback. This means that if you think a song could be improved, you can say how. I think that this song could be improved, and I've said so. What is so wrong with that?

shhh people relax, hehe
no harm done :P music, not war
