Global Gathering to go 2 days

Taken from efestivals.co.uk

Godskitchen Global Gathering is to expand to two days for 2005.

The annual dance event - which will be in it's fifth year - has been attracting around 50,000 people to dance the night away to the world's best DJ's at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford Upon Avon.

But for 2005, it will be expanded to include a Friday night of live - and predominately dance - acts, indispersed with DJs, running from around 5pm until 2am, whilst the Saturday night will have DJs from 2am until 6am on the Sunday morning.

To help revellers cope with the dance overload, they'll be camping facilities for the first time, with the campsite to open on the Friday morning.

Tickets will be available for either day, or for both days with or without camping. Prices are currently unknown, and tickets are not yet on sale.

No acts have been announced yet - an announcement is expected sometime early next year. The stature of live bands for the Friday is expected to include some huge album-selling dance acts.

Radio 1 is linking up with Global Gathering in 2005, and the event will be broadcast.

Godskitchen Global Gathering 2005 will take place at Long Marston Airfield from Friday 29th July until 6am Sunday 31st July. See you there!

Why do i feel its gonna turn into a drum and bass, Hip Hop type thing with a small trance tent?

Posted by goonerjack on Dec-10-2004 16:36:

Yeah, seems as though they're starting to sell out

I don't bloody wanna camp after seeing some of the people round there last year! Guess I'll just go on the one night then

after the catastrophe that it showed it could be due to the rain in 03 fuck knows how they even can contemplate a camping experience.

even tho im not goin in 05, the thought of 'roughing it' with some of the scum that was there, particularly in the air tent, in the summer does not appeal in the slightest.

Posted by dj_mdma on Dec-10-2004 16:56:

hrmph, so friday ends at 2am?

and then you have to wait til 5pm on saturday to get things going again?

SHITE

especially with the fucking chavscummy ****s that have been there of late

Posted by TranceMuzik02 on Dec-10-2004 18:20:

It will attract the wrong crowd now (i.e. mainstream masses and more scum), since it will be advertised all over Radio 1.

Posted by InterMilan31 on Dec-10-2004 18:35:

Im seeing alot of chav/scallys at this one. Also no Drum and bass and garage. Keep it strickly dance music none of that other shite.

a camping experience over 2 days. optional day tickets with or without camping etc etc, sounds to complicated for my fragile mind. doesnt really appeal to me, they should stick with the usual effort.

and if people want to see there fav dj's, but there on diff nights, its sort of pushing them to get the wknd ticket.

Having to wait almost a day for things to start up again on the saturday really does suck, at Glastonbury bands usually start at 10 or 11 in the morning

sounds like a gathering is more in order

the one good all night event that was left has finally caved in to the temptation of raking in the cash, shame

i think u summed that up pretty well.

Supposing you brought a tent, what do you do with it on Saturday night? Im not leaving it unattended, and I'm not carrying it around. Probably just do the Saturday, but depends who they get for Friday to.

Does this make sense to anybody???

Are they saying that there is a gap of 24hrs between the end of friday and the start of the saturday line ups??

.. and that there is only gonna be 4 hours of music on the sunday early morning?? Surely its just non stop music from 5pm friday till 6am sunday, and theyve just worded it badly

Posted by Mod1 on Dec-12-2004 23:09:

i think the drum and bass/hardcore tent should be dumped...

let them have their own festival somewhere else

Posted by isoterra on Dec-13-2004 07:36:

The 2am-6am is a mistake... just went to the site and it's been changed to 2pm-6am

ok, that would make a bit more sense

Still sounds like a crap idea to me, who the hell wants to camp at a dance festival!

I doubt I shall be in attendance, they'd have to do something inspiring to get me there like have a psy arena or something.
