livesets.com- gotham grooves with DJ Becka
Becka originally hails from Philadelphia where she discovered her LOVE of electronic music. It wasnt until the early 90s rave explosion in Philly that she sought djing and event promotion as a career. Becka began going to local weeklies and talking to DJs Trip and Katz to find out where they shopped for their music..and then later spending every extra dime on buying those same sounds she would hear them play. At this time, Becka was also working at her college radio station as one of the only jocks to play electronic music. Every Thursday morning, she would lug her bag of records and take the time in the studio to practice while exposing people to the wonderful sounds of the underground. Within her 1st year of going out to parties and djing on the radio, Becka saved up enough money to buy a set of decks so she could perfect her craft at home. In her outings, she also met who was to become her future partner for event promotions. From 1994-96, she worked with Mace of Headstrong People, throwing some of the most successful techno events to be seen in a city where house and hip hop dominated the local music scene. It was here that Becka saw her vision to spin techno, and began showing off her stuff on the decks while rapidly exhibiting her raw talent. Becka's unique blend of tech-house, minimal and hard techno have thrust her into a class of heavyweights where the likes of Miss Djax, Electric Indigo and Misstress Barbara reside. As a result of her determination and ambition, she re-located to NYC to pursue her career. For the past 11 years Becka has been showing the US what's up with her hard hitting techno style playing events from here to the other side of the Atlantic, such as DEMF in Detroit, Tronic Treatment, FUSE in Brussels, Metropolis in Paris, and more recently Montuno Vibes in Ghent, Belgium! In addition to being an outright vinyl junkie, this young lady can play a range of styles that compel you to dance - mainly letting loose a turbulent assult on the senses, plummeting you to lose control of yourself with her mind altering techno! Don't let the sweet appearance of this young woman fool you...Becka spins some of the hardest pounding techno your ears can hear! Becka has rocked many crowds with the sounds that move you into a frenzy. This lady DJ has been gaining loads of respect & notoriety in the US as well as internationally...Keep an eye out for Becka in your local area, and be a witness to this rising star traveling at the speed of light!
Influences: Hands down....the swedes make some of the best techno in the world....oh, and the true pioneers of electronic music as we know it-all the guys in Detroit (Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Juan Atkins). I have much respect & admiration for anyone who can get up on a stage and play in front of a crowd though....and am constantly being reinspired over and over again~
Also here's a set from a party in Philedelphia!

I'm listening to the set you linked for download, not the streaming one...
Do you know what the second track in is? and the one at 43 minutes? (older)
her style reminds me of my own in terms of track selection. At least, the housier tracks do.
Her mixing could definitely use some more cutting, fading, tweaking...and to me, she is trying to fit too many sounds in to a very short set.

You just like her because she likes the swedes.
