Adding a poll to the "CD Reviews / New Releases Discussion" section

Ok, my idea is to combine every new thread in the "CD Reviews / New Releases Discussion" with a poll to give members the ability to rate the new releases besides the opportunity to discuss it. So members can rate the new single/cd through voting and give e.g. certain points for the single/cd ..

example:

Someone opens a new thread to discuss the new Tiesto single. The user may rate the single by voting e.g.

- 6/6
- 5/6
- 4/6
- 3/6
- 2/6
- 1/6

or in another way e.g.

- I like it!
- Average!
- I don't like it!

This are only examples for clarification reasons..

I don't know if you like it, but I think there are enough good reasons to do it in this way, e.g. because of

- clarity/transparency
- the possibility to gain the members opinions of a new release, I think the comment isn't as representative as a poll

Pls, don't refer to the Polls (Music Related). These are two different things, a poll in the new releases discussion is much more restricted than in the music related poll section, where the thread(poll) starter can allow the answers which he wants (and how many he wants) and ask about a larger subject area.

Are you suggesting that a poll should be created automatically everytime someone starts a thread in the "CD Reviews / New Releases Discussion", and that the rating options should be preset?

Posted by Reactic on Dec-13-2004 18:37:

yeah a poll should be created automatically everytime someone starts a thread, and the rating options should always be the same. How they should look like is the admins job to find out, I have given two examples how it could be done..

i belive the forums have a in built ability to do this, called something like thread ranking that gives a 1 to 5 vote range.

dunno if this is possible though as creating this will cause more data requests to the database which may slow things down a bit.

if it slows things down it's best left out where people can just add their scores in their posts, last thing we need is more slowdown

ok, even if there is such a option, I don't care because the user can enable and disable it. And I said, that a poll should be created automatically everytime someone starts a thread.

a dick? c'mon, this is a discussion and not a flaming war, sry if it has the appearance of being a war, it's not.. but I haven't received sensible answers, and your comment is the best example for it..

If you had read abit more carefully, you would have realised that he was referring to TA.

first of all, i would like to conratulate you on making a total dickhead of yourself, well done

to re-iterate

there are currently NO polls made in the new releases forum
- obviously the demand for an automated feature is negligable
the polls option is not disabled (see fig. 1)
 there is also polls forum

figure 1

also, don't twist my words, that is as good as flaming. you have recieved multiple sensible answers. i propose it is you who is not reading what has been written

To clear things up a little here.

You are not meant to be able to post polls in the majority of forums.
you are only meant to post polls in the polls forum.

Looks like there is a slight date mess up, Old Skool TA accounts can still make polls in forums like new releases where as new accounts can not.

but for the record, polls are not allowd in the majority of forums hence why they are disabled for the majority of users.

the date issue will be rectified soon enough.

Eh.

Lazyness.

If people like the track, they'll reply. That's what the forum is for, discussing.
