Do you get nervous?

How nervous was you when you did your first trance set at a club or pub. I could see myself getting really nervous and making sure i don't cock up during the mix or get beatmatching completely wrogn or something like that. Worst thing would probably be if they started booing you.

I am a very nervous person, but I have never been more relaxed than I was at my first gig.

I just played the music, and everything went smooth as hell.

Maybe being nervous is what helps....

first time i played a party, my hands were so sweaty, i couldn't queue up records properly

my first gig in front of a large crowd was insane

it was a rave in philly and there were about 1200 people, way more than i have ever seen before in my life, used to do house parties and small clubs before this so 50-200 people

it blew me away how much you can control a crowd and how much energy they can give you, once the crowd got behind me i relaxed but it was really just nauseating to see them standing there looking up at you almost saying with their eyes "Bitch you better play some good shit"

Posted by Mortyman on Dec-13-2004 22:48:

I remember opening with Yahel Voyage... which can be a bitch to mix out of, but about 2 or 3 mixes after, my friend who also DJ'd came running up to the booth and told me that my mixes were flawless and that I better mix liek that for the rest of the night.

Mindya though, after that, I found out he got all coked up, and screwed some chick in behind the club and never heard another mix, lol.

My hands shook the whole time, queingup was the only problem I really had, holy fack, was I ever shaky, but I find I perform better when the pressure is on.

I wasn't too nervous when I did my first live spinning. I practiced in my bedroom before all that.

You have to be nervous..if your not nervous doing your first gig then theres something wrong with you..id say even djs doing it for years still have some nerves if playing a big crowd..r a certain tension which i suppose is still nerves

i would get stupid nervous. my hands would shake so bad that youd think i was trying to play through a gand mal seizure. i found out that its really just adrenaline that makes you do that so iv'e got a routine i do if i start to feel it comming on. haven't done it in a long time now but we'll see this new years eve. i'll let you all know how it went.

Posted by Boomer187 on Dec-14-2004 05:22:

Posted by ryanmac on Dec-14-2004 12:11:

I wasnt very nervous when I played my trance/techno set. I knew that it is more important to play good tracks than making flawless mix.

I remember opening with BT - Remember (Sasha Edit)
Closing with Armani & Ghost - Airport
The set took 3 hours...

I was nervous @ the beginning.... After a while it went over!
