Post .rns files

Could one or more people who are great at making a mix sound mastered and 'powerful' please send me .rns or parts of .rns sound files. I'm having trouble getting the overall high-energy feel out of trance and I'm beginning to think it's near impossible.

Anything is appreciated (yes, im running rzn 2.5 and please try to self-contain song files!)

If I ever make anything you all could maybe benefit from, I'll post it; promise

(note, im not asking you to send me the coolest composed thing in the world and I'm not trying to hijack your track, i just want examples of huge thumping stuff )

There is a demo song that comes with reason that is really trancy done by unknown source that would prob. get you what you are looking for.

Yes also, u need to know how to spider several synths together so you get a fuller sound.

Not really, but it helps. I never use the spider thingies myself... I work the old fashioned way.

i wouldn't even know how to use it...does it really make the sound fuller?

How would you make the sound fuller without the spiders? Do you put several synths with the same pattern?

I use another mixer for merging 2 or more synths. The disadvantage of spiders are, that u can't justify the volumes of the merged synths so easily as if u use a mixer. Other point is, that u can add some send effects especially for ur merged instruments and keep your mainmixer-sendFx-slots free for whole-track-sendFX. If u use spiders, this wouldn't work.

I like the mixer way myself. I even take every re-drum channel to a mixer channel for more control over the volumns.

Yeah I should have mentioned I have the track Realization by Unknown Source (I actually met up with the guy @ www.afterhoursdjs.org).

I still don't understand by just that one example how it all came together... I can see all of his devices and all that he's doing and I know what's going on, but I don't see how he knew what to do when he was making the track/ what order he did it all in. I don't understand how the red light isn't coming on for distortion and everything is so loud... I know it must have to do with the eqing and compression but I can't really figure it out

If you look at the reason-file of Realization, you will see that he has the master level on the mixer around 80 and not at 100 (default), and that's the reason why he can have the sounds going at a high volume. Look at the channels on the mixer, some of them is actually peaking. For example channel 2 (percussion sounds) - it goes up to red all the time. He fixed this by lower the master level.

Like you said, he use compression and equilizing and that's also a reason to the high volume.

He also has a eq module and an compression module between the mixer and the MIDI OUT.

I hope this answer helped you.

Yeah. I feel it's easier to control things that way since I got so used to it with the earlier versions of Reason. It doesn't really matter which way you do it, though, since the outcome will be the same either way

haha no I'm not looking at it that basic The thing you mentioned about the mixer wasn't what I meant. I mean I can make a track and set the mixer and device levels at reasonable volumes and I'll have to lower the master REALLY low for it to not clip. His stays loud, somehow = confusion

I'm having a similar problem, but I'm pretty good with compressors and it's because he has his MASTER OUT going to an EQ and then compressor. The compress keeps it from going over 0db(clipping = annoying red light) . There is a tutorial on the propellerheads website showing how to make a multiband compressor in reason, but i think it sucks. I don't like how reason has auto gain on the compressor I would like to control it myself.
