Recommendations

I'm pretty new to the whole electronic music scene, but I'm liking it a lot. I'm pretty into trance but again, I'm new to the scene. My collection of songs sits at like, less than 75 probably. I'd like recommendations on "Must Have" songs that are popular and specific artists/DJ's from subgenres of this music.

To give a little insight, I like Tiesto, PvD, Armin and BT a lot. I've read the name Sasha a lot and was hoping you guys could get me started. Thanks in advance.

You should unquestionably pick up Sasha's latest album Involver. Based on what you listed & off the top of my head, you might like George Acosta, Mirco de Govia, Phynn, Cor Fijneman, Markus Schulz, Probspot, Adam White, Nu NRG, Above & Beyond, Kyau vs. Albert and Agnelli & Nelson.

You should check out ETS here and you can stream lots of different radio shows from some of them.

Go to the polls forum and check out the Tune of 2004 thread. All the nominees are top notch stuff. And based on those diverse songs, you can decide what you like, and hopefully learn some artists you like.

CD Recommendations

As far as CDs. I recommend the following:

Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport (This was the CD that got me hooked into Trance about 6 years ago), Another World, Creamfields.

Tiesto - Everything, but to begin listening start with Summerbreeze, Nyana, In Search of Sunrise 3, and Magik 6: Live In Amsterdam

Armin van Buuren - A State of Trance 2004, Universal Religion Chapter One, Universal Religion 2004: Live In Ibiza (Also try to get his A State Of Trance weekly radio shows)

Ferry Corsten - Global Trancemissions 01 & 02, Mixed Live @ Spundae Los Angeles (I found an awesome live set by him called Ferry Corsten live @ Nature One 2004, you might be able to find it off the net)

Paul van Dyk - The Politics of Dancing, Out There and Back, Global 2003, Vorsprung Dyk Technik

George Acosta - Pretty much everything by this guy. Best place to start might be History Of Trance so you can catch up with some classic tunes.

Sasha & John Digweed - Northern Exposure I, II, & III. Their CDs from the Global Underground series.

That should get you started. Let me know if you end up buying any of these CDs.

id have to agree with all the trance listed above, Tiesto's Magik 7 live in LA is pretty cool also

**if you really wanna sample how broad the Electronica Spectrum is, listen to some house and Drum n Bass along with your Trance and Techno

to me, Trance covers alot of the uplifting emotional Electronica, House is more of the fun all around party electronica, and Drum n Bass covers alot of the Dark almost evil sounding electronica

there are some sounds in the drum and bass world that can only bedescribed as one word:

Wicked!

and not just Wicked as in cool, i mean as in how some trance sounds like music from heaven with synths and melodys, DnB has sounds that seem like music from hell, if you have really good speakers, especially a Subwoofer, there are tracks with bass so deep and crazy sounding its almost like a demon is speaking to you... yea its alittle crazy sounding but you have to hear it to understand what i mean

definately reccomend Dieselboy - The Dungeonmasters Guide
theres a couple other seperate tracks that are pretty cool -
DJ Hive - Surreal Killer i think it called, theres a couple different mixes of it, both r pretty cool

Future Prophecies also have a few badass tracks, Dimensional Entity is pretty deep, Colors, nightmare walking...

but yeah... if you ever go to a club, chances are there will be a DJ playing house in one room, DnB in another and in some clubs Trance(depending on your area, mine is somewhat lacking in trance) dunno for sure, but alot of club ppl really dig a good DnB set
