Club Avalon NYC = No Good
I was thinking of going to Johan Geilen at Avalon on Dec 18 as I will be in the city for the weekend, (coming from Miami). I grew up in NYC, and started raving there 10 years ago, but am not familiar with the new clubs in NYC as I haven't been there in awhile.
Everything I have read from the thread below states that this club sucks! Can anyone tell me more about why it sucks and what other alternatives I have if I want a harder edge sound then the typical Gay NY House Clubs.
Thanks
Overly crowded old mans club.
i mean if u've read about why it sucks, what else do u want to know? we've seen it all from avalon
- lying about cover charges via promoters (not promoters' fault). i mean if you have mgmt telling people one thing but doing another at the door, that's definitely not a good way to have clientele, aka hardcore clubgoers, keep coming back. sasha @ NYE, ferry in february, carl cox in march, all prime examples of shady price setting.
- clueless clubgoers that get packed into a very limited space makes for an awful combination. oft times rude and have no consideration for others on the floor.
- maybe packing avalon to the point of it being a safety/fire hazard. it's dangerous, and most people really really do not like the close contact
- sound system needed to be worked on for a while. i think the majority of us have stopped going there recently so we really can't comment on whether or not that's improved
i'm sure others can add different ways that avalon's not the best place to go.
