Unhappy I saw PVD on Friday in SF

I wasn't all that impressed with PVD. Too much hard progressive trance and not enough melodic/epic/uplifting/emotional trance. Though I must admit that starting off his set with New Order's Crystal was one of the best things I've ever heard in a club before.

i saw him on friday too.. i dont know wat ur talking bout. he played nuthing but uplifting stuff. that was one of the best sets ever and its the best party ive ever been to. i dont know wat ur definition of progressive is but its defintely not wat pvd played on friday. you just dont know wat ur talking bout.

Unhappy huh , maybe it was just me...

Maybe I just didn't get into it because of me being sick, tired, hot, and/or bad stuff. I have to agree that that was the best party I've ever been to before 2am. But after 2am the music just got annoying. I'm glad to hear that someone on this site was there.

maybe ur just not a pvd fan then.
If you can call any of the following songs he played boring and annoying then you shouldnt be calling urself a tranceaddict.

another way
tell me why (vandit mix)
synaethesia (pvd remix)
nu nrg - dreamland
mirco de govia - epic monolith
4 strings - into the night
raplhie b - massive
second sun - empire
rapture pvd remix
lexicon 4 - reach me (pvd remix)
blank and jones - secrets and lies (pvd rework)

he played maybe one or two progressive songs. my god...just to hear second sun - empire was well worth it. I have yet to put together a tracklist for that nite but those are the songs i remember off the top of my head. Just those songs alone made driving to SF from LA worth it.

Idea Alright...

Well, again I don't think I was doing very good for other reasons, but I do like the list of songs you posted, does anyone have a complete playlist? I talked to a few people that drove up from LA for the party I wonder if I talked to you?

FuzzyGreen, I know exactly what you mean.
I saw Tiesto earlier this year and I was really hyped expecting to hear lots of synths and keyboards and cool melodies.

Didn't hear any of that, just monotonous kick-and-snare

no joke. PVD spun too much hard progressive trance and not enought melodic stuff when he was in Houston. He forgot to spin STARCHILDREN,DREAMLAND and EMPIRE for God's sake!

Posted by wushuboy on Oct-22-2001 23:59:

excite.. well thats too bad for u.. he did spin empire and dreamland here. in fact he ended his set with dreamland. so perfect!!

Second Sun - Empire

Which version of Empire did he spin? He spun the crappier (but still good) PVD remix. I was hoping for the more uplifting original mix. =)
