American football is the worst game EVER!

Its all started as some stupid Americans tried to steal the idea from Rugby and, as you call it, Soccer, but obviously there was no chance of the poor citizens of the US actually beating the established nations in these sports so they invent their own version, which is totally crap, but allows them to be the world champions (isn't that a funny concept seeing as no-one else in the world plays that dumb game).

Its hard to imagine a bigger bunch of pussies than these so-called 'football' players. They wear 85 layers of padding, protective guards, and a helmet. So you have these huge men running around that think they are tough, listen to the way they talk, when in reality they could be hit by a bus and not register a scratch.

And then you need a seperate team to attack and then another team to defend? What the players are too dumb to understand both strategies? Its good to see the game evolutionalised base upon low intelligence.

They played this game in Sydney and I was listening to it on the radio, and I gotta say that my diesel four wheel drive must have been swapped with a Ferrari that day because I left home on kick-off, fought through the traffic to get into the city and the game was at the 5 minute mark, left the city was heading over the story bridge after I parked and left a parking station, the game was now at the 8 minute mark. And then when I got to the Gold Coast, normally a 45 minute drive minimum, and we were still in the second quarter.

Along with eating fatty food and generally becoming fat another thing Americans are notorious for is trying to use as many accessories as possible when playing sport. I'm not sure exactly why, but I'm guessing that trying to be better than anyone else has got something to do with it, and American football does not dissapoint.

And then you have the stupid clothes the officials wear.

What a shit sport.

I supposed you would have to live here to love it.. still, i accept and love other sports that arent popular here. im a huge fan of football/soccer and rugby... everytime our weak ass broadcasting stations show it, i watch the games

I played football in high school and for a year in college. I broke my left thumb (twice), right thumb (once), separated my right shoulder (once), dislocated my left knee (twice), broke my tibia (once), and broke my femur (once).

Yup, pussy sport.

you obviously have no, or little, idea of the immense complexities and strategies involved in gridiron. after having the rules explained to me i was hooked. is a great game to watch. even the stops are good coz you get to see what happened at the last play, and appreciate the tactics involved.

as for them being pussies- you try running full tilt at a guy who\'s also running at you and see how it feels. they wear protection coz people would get killed otherwise.

of course, aussie rules football is one of the more hardcore team sports

you have no idea what u are talking about. its not a pussy sport. soccer (european football) is more of a pussy sport than american football. oh good u got tripped, heres a free kick i like soccer too tho.

football involves amazing strategy both from defense and offense.

I wonder if any of them played for the MLS New England Revolution.

I know I'm from New England, but I can't trust them. I trust the other boys of Foxborough in red, white, and blue, the New England Patriots!

and throw another commericial on top.

american football does look like it's pretty chaotic if you have no idea what's going on. It takes a bit of familiarity to appreciate the tactics and plays. wasting a few days on playstation versions helps to understand those sorts of things :P

I have no problem with American Rules, but, what i don't understand is why they actually call it football when about 85% of the game is based on carrying/throwing the ball. Oh, and the dickheads on 'The Man Show' have the nerve to call football/soccer -- Fagball. DIE!

Yeah! American Football is a far different sport from football-football. It should've gotten a different name.

Simple history...back when it evolved back before our grand parents it was mostly a game played by kicking and lateraling (more similar to rugby). Forward Passing was not allowed until sometime after 1925-1930. The game has evolved, the name hasn't. I believe the Canadian league still carries some of the old school rules a bit today...to me it makes it more "exciting"...i.e. more than one in motion, rouges (sp)/singles, goal posts in the front of the end zone, and being able to kick the ball forward of scrimage and retriving it. (yes, calgary should have won the game they tried that move in, it totally caught, BC, the refs, and the 382 people watching off guard, and they said no major...haha).

No matter the name, in a country that depends on "contact sports" for excitement, it's just hard to tell some of us that "soccer" is a quality sport. Watching a player get tripped, then proceed to whine and roll around on the ground like a little girl...just doesn't cut it round these parts. No matter how skilled the game is, or in some circumstances, actually exciting.

Personally, I don't care for American Football on a pro level. I enjoy Rugby the most...but I will be cheering for my Montana Grizzlies in the I-AA college finals on Saturday

And Spec (tobias)...you tried this argument before...might as well let sleeping dogs lie and go back to watching your footy, or Tri-Nations or whatever is on these days...you just can't look at the last 10 years and think that's how the game has always been played...or where it is played, cuz it is in fact played in (at least) 2 countries...not one ...do your research But being called World Champs...yeah I buy that argument...tho in American Football I think they call themselves "SuperBowl Champs"...but yeah we have sports that we basically only play and call it "world" this and that...but not so much in American Football.

*shoves another hot dog in his face while watching the commercials"

Spec you're damn right ! i agree with you , don't let these fools tell you american football is awesome
