Producers

I heard thru the pipeline that many producer/DJs who release traacks aren't really the mastermind behind it all...For instance TIesto ... does he really sit there and produce a whole track or even have the time to produce a whole album? I heard he doesnt... so all he does is nod his approval at a co-producer who is the one who should REALLY get all the credit here...? If this is true, then wat about his fans who beleive him to be one of the best producers out there? Are any other "producers" doing this..I would hate to kno that a preferred producer is not really a producer after all...

Well, Tiesto is way too busy to produce all of his own tracks. From what i've heard, Tiesto just makes up the general idea of the song, and lets his producer work on from there.

DJ Jean is another great example. First singles (The Launch, Supersounds, Love Come Home) are produced by The Klubbheads, the new single "Every Single Day" was produced by G-Spott, who also produces the tracks for DJ José.

Sasha has a production team, but from what I can gather, he does alot of the work by himself.

Posted by NiteMer on Dec-16-2004 21:30:

Sasha does a lot of work himself, but Charlie May is involved in pretty much every track he's produced.

I bet Oakie doesn't actually produce any of his tracks himself. I even heard that he had a production team that computer mixed his compilation cds. All he, supposedly, did is select the tracks.

Some actually do the work and others ride the wave.

Shame / Disagreement

this fucking pisses me off, this is a big scandal. Its even worse than vanilla ice or pop icons fake-singing at shows. If this is true, i will hunt those frauds down and * ******** ***** ******* ******* *****. Damnit, if you dont have time, make time or just dont do it, aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr

Posted by Ory on Dec-16-2004 21:46:

Yeah, I know about Charlie May, gotta give him a bit (alot ) of credit aswell.

Posted by DOOMBOT on Dec-16-2004 21:53:

What is the big deal though? Somehow someway the music has to be presented to a live audience and the only way for that to happen is a DJ. Now, I kinda doubt that the people who spend the time to make the songs really have the time to learn how to mix as well. And besides, the DJs add their own flavor to the music with how they present the song to you. I love it to be honest and I think that if the people who create the music obviously dont care that Tiesto, lets just say, is getting all the credit then why should we?

Posted by memusa on Dec-16-2004 21:58:

yep...but this is normal in every genre...I'm not saying I'm ok with it...only that it's normal...This is why, for instance, when bands record albums, these sound different depending on the producer they select...

Compare U2's albums for example. Those produced by Steve Lillywhite sound very different to those produced by Brian Eno/Daniel Lanois.

well obviously oakenfold has always worked with Steve Osbourne and Andy Gray to produce shit...

Posted by wolverine16 on Dec-16-2004 22:17:

Yeah, Charlie May deserves a lot of credit and should get his name mentioned more apart from Spooky. Sasha does do a lot of the production work too, but why isn't there an alias for Coe & May productions? Sasha and Digweed working together never brought Sasha as an individual any less respect. In any case, their work is brilliant.

Posted by NiteMer on Dec-16-2004 22:30:

I think May doesn't really care. He doesn't need the glory. I'm sure he gets a good cut of the proceeds and is content.

+1

same with all of the other artists using one name to distinguish their band..

Posted by Zombie0729 on Dec-17-2004 00:09:

hehe, what do you think the whole oakenfold & BT mess was about?

BT called out Oakey because Paul was taking all the credit for the releases and remixes w/ "oakenfold" on them

Explain further (first time I've heard about this). This sounds interesting.

but avril prestents herself as a singer, just like britney ...

tiesto presents himself as a producer, many people respect him as a producer and not only as a dj...

as i said above... it sucks...i had no idea tiesto is such a looser, and if tiesto does it he sure is not the only one.

Posted by Sand Leaper on Dec-17-2004 12:58:

Sven Vth has people produce for him as well. Used to be Steffen "B-Zet" Britzke and Ralf Hilenbeutel, nowadays it's the boys in Alter Ego.

Same with a lot of the swiss trance acts, like Tatana and Timeok (produced by Reverb and Andy Prinz).

Well, there's always the info on the label. I'm not saying that is always correct, but atleast it helps.

yep, usually you are able to view most of the correct information...

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-17-2004 15:53:

You people need to learn the difference between writing a track and producing it.

Posted by A.J. on Dec-17-2004 15:59:

Santa does most of the work himself, but apparently he has a team of elves helping him with his productions.

Posted by Euphorica on Dec-17-2004 16:00:

there simply isnt enough time for someone to write, produce and dj all his own stuff. well maybe you could do it but it would be a life time of slow work. why cant we just enjoy the fucking music anymore. shit
