Dj Tiesto?

This past saturday, I was feeling a bit adventourous and took it upon myself to visit WORLD for the first time. Dj tiesto was supposed to be spinning for most of the night, and I like some of his stuff to listen to in the car so I thought I would give him a chance. Hes got such a huge name in Europe now, that I thought I would bless him with my presence. I mean people were comparing him to PVD and tenaglia, JP and the rest....

Just a word of advice...DONT EVER GO SEE THIS GUY SPIN LIVE! ITS A WASTE OF MONEY! I was very disapointed! ALL this commercial nonsense he played?I mean what the fuck? How can you, in this day of age, spin Silence for like 20 minutes with no changes? Second of all, he was tripping balls, so he fucked up like 3 times(that I heard), his mixing was nonexistent, predictable and shallow. He came out on to the stage 3 times and started throwing records out into the crowd. what a clown. I dunno if the promoters made him play such a nonsense set, but I lost a lot of respect....I
understand that he is talented, but I HAD 95% of the music he played, some stuff even 2-3 years old! I mean if people try to compare this guy to PVD or DT, I WILL LAUGH. PVD can have like 3 records going, and you wont even know it! DT CREATES music in front of you!! Tiesto is just empty. I think what he really thought was that people don't know trance here in NY or they don't understand music....he is wrong. Everyone I talked to hated the set ( with a few exceptions)

Tiesto, I'm disapointed...maybe I'll give you another chance in DC in November.

First of all Tiesto is against drugs, so there was no way in hell that he was "tripping balls". Also, just cause you couldnt appreciate him, that means that no one should ever go see hiom play?? Can't someone have a bad night for Christ's sakes! And i really bet that his mixing was non existent too! hahaha Ahhh, such ingorance.

TIESTO IS NOT AGAINST DRUGS...that is PvD from the days of Gatecreasher when crasher kids would wear shirts against drugs because of PvD's strong anti-drug stance. I have seen Tiesto fucked up and at Limelight here in March was seen to have done coke.

Posted by push01 on Oct-23-2001 15:12:

I totally agree

Tiesto is all about show as I described in my post...

Ignorance? I think you've got me all wrong. Obviously you don't know tiesto cause hes NOT against drugs. I don't know if you have ever heard him spin but he showed me NOTHING. By mixing I mean he will play a track, when it's over, he mixes the next track in and thats it. Van-dyke will have 2 songs playing for like 10 minutes, and you have no idea!! His transition is so smooth that the whole night is one song!! Tieto's skills come nowhere near this... I had high expectations thats all. Records skipping, missing beats should not happen too much. YES everyone makes mistakes, and everyone can have a bad night... but come on. dont play me a fucken track from 98', followed by a track from 99' followed by a track from 96'. He is about show, not about music which can be good also. BUT NOT FOR ME FOR 40$$

DT-BT

DT I mean Danny Tenaglia...hes DJ, producer, gods gift to New York

Posted by TBass on Oct-23-2001 17:18:

I was there at World, and Tiesto didn't fuck up, the record was skipping, was not his fault, and it happened twice, also the set he threw for the crowd was perfect, it was more of a mainstream crowd rather than the true hard core music lovers, he pleased the crowd and the crowd loved him. I had a great time, and still believe Tiesto is an amazing DJ.

He played what the crowd wanted, and to tell you the truth, many people there wanted to hear silence and songs that are on his new CDs, and he threw in a few old classics which made everyone (including me) go nutz.

Overall, it was a good set by Tiesto.

Hey Tbass i agree with you bro that the crowd was happy and wanted to hear Silence etc..but that was my second time in the span of 8 months hearing him and he hardly changed his set. Secondly I dont care much for his antics and the intro he needs and stuff like a rock star. I dont like how the dj booth is on a stage separated from the people. At Twilo at least you can stand up next to the booth and the great dj's spinning there needed no intro's. These are the problems I had with the night. I dont discount that my opinion is in the minority and that a lot of people had a good time but I was with a lot of people who were also disappointed by his skills, track selection and antics. Anyway nice to see you there. Push

Blah Blah Blah....all I hear is his dissing of Tiesto crap and sucking-PVD's cock shit...Beat it Maximus, just cannot take another man with imperfections to your illusionized world of perfection. Who the fuck said PVD or DT, BT whatever you call them are perfect in so many ways...Admit you are just pissed off cause Tiesto is making so many beans and you're just this insignificant piece of bimbotic cell that floats around looking for PERFECT MIXES and PERFECT LONG LONG SONGS....and you ended up just the rest of us would...pay to go see him live...You are not going to make any difference in anyone's opinion by your criticisms on his mixing...blah blah blah...and coming off with that argument supporting PVD...you poor bastard...my endless wave of sympathies to you and your "imaginary" PVD Fan Club that you have in your pea brain....Sorry to hear that Tiesto disappointed you in so many ways...but if you really like and fancy LONG LONG MIXES...try Sasha, Digweed or Lee Burridge...they spin long long tunes...with 10-15 mins of tracks simultaneously rolled into one.
Next time, try to listen to Tiesto's recent Live sets to give yourself a feel of what is it like Tiesto Live..Do your homework BOY! Instead of rattling off here like a CHoo Choo train with some bad trip left in your arse...

It's not really true, I mean you see drugs everywhere. If you go to a popconsert or so, it's on all scenes but you see it more on people on the trancescene. I think the trancemusic is the only music you can listen to without taking drugs. You can really feel the emotions in it. You can get on another level without the drugs. If you listen to techno, it so monotone so then you really would need drugs to enjoy it.

looks like i winner you all...again

You must remember though, that after the performance, the people there dont go back home and open up their Winamp playlist of 2 gigs of mp3s. The clubbers at the performance havent heard these songs, so its ok for Tiesto to play them. Its not like people go to every performance of Tiesto in the world, so that means theres a good chance they havent heard most of these songs. You can sit back in your chair and complain about his playlist while listening to his liveset on mp3, but the clubbers actually at the performance are having a great time. Next time dont compare you how feel about his performance as opposed to people who go to his acts and dont know what the fack an mp3 is! To the clubbers, as long as its quality music they havent heard before, then its fun time. Isnt that how we all feel when downloading music anyways?

Posted by push01 on Oct-24-2001 01:13:

Racoon I agree if it is your first time seeing him. I saw him in March, 8 months ago and then this past weekend. He played a lot of the same tracks. NO EXCUSE!!!!!!

Posted by Eugene on Oct-24-2001 01:56:

I don't know about you, but when I have a CD or an MP3 that I keep listening to at home or in my car, and then I go clubbin' and hear a famous DJ play it, and hear it through the loud speakers and see everyone dancing to it, -- I feel wonderful!

PVD wrote for an angel in 93...it was released in 98 . Thats a pretty harsh statement "Don't ever go see Tiesto live!" Like my buddy Push I was disappointed w/his track selection as well. I trainspotted his entire set..its posted in various other threads. I had a good time but I didn't pay $35 to hear anthems. I could have done w/out Silence, Flesh, & voyage.

I still Love Tiesto I just feel he is not maximing his potential. He's extremely capable of playing spine tingling mindblowing set but he didn't. I strongly feel NYC deserved a special unique set. He gave us a typical cookie cutter set that he has been playing everywhere this year.
