Well it definitely looks interesting. I'm gonna give it a go.

Make sure you let me know what you think!
I've gotten a lot of postive feedback on this mix, but I would value an "industry" opinion

NOW THATS A FUCKING DJ MIX!
I feel 2 ways about this mix...

1: 99% of the Bullshit chump trance Dj's on here just got BURNED TO DEATH.

2: I don't think its terribly Risque, all the techno Dj's i've heard in the last year play like this now, its just really big into the electro clash thing thats coming back 80's style. But still A+ mix.

AND YOU MUST GIVE ME THAT MIX OF GIRLS!!!!

Posted by rocksteady on Dec-18-2004 11:55:

Well thank you sir!
The Girls mix came from this website http://www.prodigyremixed.com/ that popped about the same time as the album dropped LOL
I like that girls mix cus its more DJ friendly, but still retains the elements of the OG mix..

Yeah i know its not risque, but that was my marketing strategy to get people to check this thread out haha. I know a quite a few other DJ's who get down like this, but i'm the first in my area to actually publicise it hardcore....

and let me tell you, making smooth mixes between genres is VERY DIFFICULT...the second half of the mix with the techy/trancey was a 100 times easier to get done than the first half...

and where in CA you from? I played in toronto this summer, been wanting to get back up there...

Posted by Colin Andrews on Dec-18-2004 22:21:

I'm from Edmonton in Alberta, the city with almost no scence. Thats not to say we don't have a lot of big Dj's through here, its just that no one goes to the shows unless the headliners are tiesto big, ha ha.

Be Cool! Refreshing Mix

Hey...I really digg your mix. It's like orange juice with a twist of rum in it. Very refreshing to hear something different. Awesome!

Posted by zshev on May-16-2005 17:57:

This looks excellant, downloading now.

Fusing a lot of styles i've been playing lately. Just can't be arsed with straight up trance at the mo

AWESOME MIX!! Would you be opposed to having it played on www.LoveTheWeekend.com as a guest mix?

Do you ask that on every post?

'Rocker' and 'Hearbreak' are awesome tracks, good choice

Yeh, it's, it's called courtesy and promotion.

Ummm, I suppose it is, but asking on 3-5 sets every time your on isnt exactly going to make a DJ feel special.

Posted by Hooje on May-18-2005 17:41:

The aim isn't to make DJ's feel special.

The aim is to get quality, fresh, new mixes on air.

diggin the mix bud, heard it on LTW playlist the other day! this is like my style... i try to leave genre out of it, and mix what sounds good. cheers, keep it up!!

@ dj_lane: i don't think you'd appreciate seeing your mix being played somewhere without your permission, if that ever happened that is. most of us are from TA anyways, and we are seeking an alternative to playing all the big name DJ's mixes. i'm gunna go out on a limb and say rocksteady probly doesn't mind being asked about this. he already has had a ton of new people listen to mix now who otherwise may have never heard of him.

I didnt want to make a big deal about it either. Now I somewhat regret posting it, but it was kinda aggrivating me when all these threads I open have Hooje asking to play it. I have asked DJs too, but It just seemed way over excessive. If i was doing that to threads for Party107.com, you might say the same back.

cheers, right on... we PM most of the time anyways

we could always revert to playlisting pvd, ferry, avb etc etc on the server but for now we'd rather get amateur (and esp. TA) guys like rocksteady some exposure

wow.. this is the first time i've truly felt a bedroom dj should be making money awesome mix man!

Posted by Tegu on May-20-2005 05:15:

glad to see something besides a trance mix here

Posted by placebo on May-20-2005 15:17:

Looks like something I would spin

I'd throw some dnB in there

Posted by placebo on May-20-2005 15:34:

I cant believe you dropped Outta Space...DJ Monk dropped that in New Orleans and everyone went nuts o_O

hehe...not exactly a bedroom DJ, but thanks for the compliments everyone! blowing my head up proppa! I play out a pretty decent amount here in the New England/NYC rave/club scene...(yeah i dont just straddle genres i cross party scenes as well! lol)

I think the freshness in the variety of my track selection comes from my excessive downloading/reasearch[note:still spend thousands on vinyl]. I listen to a play a lot of stuff from labels that a "house" or "trance" dj would ignore...you dont see too many people finding out whats goin on outside that field of expertise. That and my obvious prodigy obession.
It's either that or my extreme case of ADD.

And yes, use my mix for whatever you please..i'm big on sharing

hehe, im thinking i should use some of these posts to market myself somehow...lol

yah i was wondering that as well.

I've never heard of anyone other than a bonafide "breaks" DJ play Factor-e, Autobots heavy style breaks in a set.

But my theory is as follows:

Just as a song can use a breakbeat during a breakdown or a changeup, people can easily tolerate a mini-breaks set between some house or techno...or as a warm up for some banging stuff.

I think there is something to be said for progressivly building sets, but thats not the only way to play!
