Hmm Active Subwoofer?
Well my friend asked me if its worthy to buy monitor subwoofer...he has samson active monitors and they also have a subwoofer...is it worthy ? or for what benefit is it worthy?

Cheers,

Subwoofers just supply more bass, that's all.
If you use the speakers for monitoring, it's a bad idea to buy a subwoofer, because it would destroy the 'natural' sound.
If you think your sound is missing the 'oomph', a subwoofer can do magic.
You can often save some money in the process when purchasing an active speaker ( or sub ) compared to purchasing the cabinet and the speaker separate. But that's not always the case!
Other factor will be that active's are easier to transport as it's an all inclusive box and transporting speakers + separate amps can be an annoying thing to do.
Only true limitation you'll ever come accross is that they aren't of the highest Wattage on the market but in most cases sufficiently enough for most uses pro and amateur.
Other side factor is if the active speaker has a component that breaks you are left out of the whole thing, either by not fixing it because the costs would be superior to a replacement or because you could not use a temporary fix in event of a repair ( replacing temporarely the amp or cabinet ).
Lastly I would honestly recommend them for mobile applications but if you're going for a permanent install it truly shouldn't matter and I'd advise going with the Amp + Cabinet purchase instead.
Btw this whole post may be totally irelevant as I'm not even sure what your question was ...
is it worth getting actives or not?
If the question was is it worth getting a sub .... well then yes in most cases it will be, but you'll have to learn how to use it in moderation and it will also bring drastically more bass which can be a good/bad thing.
Sorry I'm going off on a tangent

My friend says thank u
I had a chance to play some house & club music on a big home system with a 10" active subwoofer, might have been a Velodyne, in one of those audio rooms in a store. It sounded great, although the bass was more mellow and not as punchy as in a club. Still very nice, when we turned off the subwoofer it was nowhere near as cool sounding.
I'd like to get one for house parties and general listening (not a monitor or for pro music production) but I'm already getting noise complaints from the house next door.
