Red face OrgaNik - Genesis (v2.0)

Some of you might remember this track from aaaages ago. I posted it here some time during last year but was never quite happy with it. It sat on my HD for a while, almost got signed at one point and went through a long series of reworks (one from a rather famous trance duo, sadly noone's ever gonna hear it) and now it's here.

OrgaNik - Genesis (v2.0)

This will be the end of OrgaNik as we know it. Starting on 10th of January I shall be going through the mandatory army service which I hope will only last for 6 months. After that I am going to start from a clean table. What direction it will be, I do not yet know. What I do know, though, is that this track represents the "old" OrgaNik exactly the way I wanted it to be.

Love it or hate it, that's it.

Nice way to end my night! Comments as I listen:

-Starts off excellent. Production value is superb, there's some great stereo space being utilized here.
-Bassline is excellent.
-Excellent subtle use of effects.
-1 minute mark is seriously groovy!
-Percs are really excellent, great variety of sounds and perfect stereo placement.
-The vocal is cool, but IMO it could benefit from a few more effects, even something as simple as heavier delay.
-Nice melody and synth sound.
-3:20 is really nice when the beat comes back.
-Very nice breakbeat near the 5 min mark. Breakbeats are very commonly used, and suck 99% of the time. That one is quite nice and you can tell that you know the breaks genre a lot better than most trance producers. Would be cool to keep it in a bit longer imo.
-I expected a bit more towards 6 mins or so when the beat comes back, some kind of noisy edit or something woulda been sweet. Still nice though, despite subtle.

Very nice piece of work. Refreshingly original and excellently produced. This is absolute quality and I will be playing it.

Thanks for the share!

Perfect, you couldn't make it any better. And I'm not even biased!

Posted by Romain on Dec-18-2004 11:36:

yeah, top notch production; very fresh.
congrats, & good luck with the army service; sad to hear you're going.

Posted by Gladius on Dec-18-2004 12:03:

nice, slightly better then the original (doesnt really differ that much from it imo..).
good luck in the army man =\.

Posted by TOR on Dec-18-2004 13:47:

amazing sounds and effects, perfectly mastered.

melody is not my kind of thing.

sad to see you leave for the army.

Posted by _Marco_ on Dec-18-2004 15:57:

really good! nice drive all over the track.
Waht i dont like is the clap though which seems really basic

Posted by NoisyNeil on Dec-18-2004 17:51:

I'm not really to fond about this one Nik, don't really like what you did with that beat... just doesn't seem to connect with the main melody very well. A big shame, because that beat in 'Random Act Of Noise Pollution' was bloody massive

And the other thing is, it doesn't have a real climax, it's just a little too boring I guess. I think that the main melody could use a major pad-pattern to expand it.

Furtherwise, your build-up, use of samples and mastering is excellent. Producing wise nothing wrong with this track, only no real climax. And a little dissapointing beat.

I really believe you can get much more out of this, cause the beginning is there already only the missing parts should be filled, ... well it does in my opinion then ey

> Neil

ps. good luck in the army, I thought it wasn't obligated anymore in the whole of Europe? that really sucks man!

Sorry, but no. I'm tired of climaxes.

how come?

Because it was once a great thing but then it got blown out of proportion and exaggerated until it became a parody of itself.

Listen to the tunes that get posted here, 90% of them are carbon copies of each other. I don't want to be a part of that group any more.

seems fair enough too me But then even climaxes can be different, ...

Although I think that a lot of the posted tracks here don't have any kind of power etc.

Thats the reason why i've never posted a tune yet (although I'm going to change that!) cause I think that mine are missing something..

Dog Running

Hey Mistery

THis is so weird. I have that exact sample that you used - The God one, and i was using it in a song called Genesis - (abandonded now).

About your song - superb mastering and production. Main melody is very nice - but doesnt really grab me by the bollocks. Breakbeat part is nice.
Overall - excellently produced song - great sound choices - the synths are pretty damn sweet.

Posted by JoeyEnv on Dec-18-2004 19:13:

Sublime production as normal man. Sound quality is really professional. Nice orchestral strings, vocals add to the atmosphere as do the spacious, whispy fx. Dosen't go in the direction i'd hoped but it's a quality piece from a quality producer. Sad to see you go man.

-Joey

Heh, that's what happens with open source samples...

Gah, bastard!

Yeah Nik, this is great stuff! The synth sounds are very neat, and the overall sound is very pro. The percs are interesting too which is always a nice thing! Maybe the sample could have used a little more delay, but that's only a complaint for the sake of having something worthwhile to write.

It's gonna be a shame to see you go, I'll miss hearing your stuff... *sniff* Best of luck with that, mate. (Maybe we should share Banda Sea with these lovely people before you depart?)

Re: Re: Re: Re: OrgaNik - Genesis (v2.0)

This is really nice..

Maybe you could have done something with the vocal sample. as I think I've heard the same sample at least in two other tracks...

Yes that's what you should do!

Posted by Subtle on Dec-19-2004 15:29:

cool beginning.. nice kick.. cool FX.. the rhythm is really cool.. damn nice rhythm i am really liking this.. after the break it is kinda lacking a little power i think, gets a little too muddy.. but i think it is a great idea for a song, and a little fresh as well..

the sample in the track really surprised me a little.. cool sample... where is it from really? I have heard it in DJ Quicksilver - Equinoxe IV

It's from one of the Apollo flights (11, I think) from the NASA archives. All their samples are public domain.

Posted by Sinnica Hax on Dec-19-2004 15:45:

omg this song really rocks
just shame that mr.mystery tends to be a lil' bitter on the forums, because he's a great producer

like someone said, if your posts was as good as your music...

Posted by noikeee on Dec-19-2004 15:58:

Woah, i really really like this one.

The thing i didn't particularly like in some of your other productions was that the melodies had this "happy-epic-symphonic" feeling which was too much for me. But this one is perfect harmonically and has some really nice subtle elements, great work!

Good luck with the army thing too.
