To be fair i know this has been talked about a lot and swamper is doing something about it but ta is overun by spam and as a proper old skooler i feel i should have my say on the matter:
At the moment the ukta forum is just full of posts from people advertising their chosen night while posting pretty much fuck all else, and is getting beyond ridiculous. Ive pretty much been here from the start and have seen a steady decline since then too. This isnt just a rant at the ukta forum either its about the whole of ta. MD is seriously gettin stupid with "my radio show now" "my night here" "my night there" threads and 90% of the users generally dont give a flying fuck. its all just pure advertisment that anywhere other than this forum they would have to pay serious money for. I mean as far as trance goes this forum is absolutly huge in its reader base and some people take full advantage of that and at times it takes the piss.
I fully understand that del has a busy life and its hard to get the time to implement things to overcome this but i think we've hit saturation point and something should be done whether it be a stop gap until del gets the time to do something else or a full blown seperate forum like the toronto forum has in both md and in here (maybe other local forums too)
Im sure most u know i dont rant often on here but i really am begining to get fucked off with this, so i thought id have my say
I see what your saying but its hard to draw the line sometimes whereas some posts are clear spam such as those recently from crasherevents and the emporium .. others such as that of the fatmoon psy party arent .. is this simply due to the fact that its more then likely we already know about the former whereas the latter is news to us?
Should we expect those who post info about nights or such ads to be active members of ta? Would that give them the right then to post their nights? Perhaps its due to the lack of non-club night related threads (eg just general talk) over the years that has made these threads all the more apparent? I dont see how it can be policed though unless the mods are allowed to get heavy by enforcing bans on strict posting guidelines or as you say specific forums are created ..
There are a few changes planed in TA V2.0 that should sort most problems
I Agree with you mike, I've spent ages abusing ppl like tigerclaw who do nothing but spam radio shows but most people seem to find it acceptable... prob cos they've not been here b4 it turned into that kind of a forum, but it needs serious help, from the mods and from more of us users to show them it's not acceptable.
As for here, I still think the majority of us are a tight-knit bunch of mates, and I love that aspect. there are a few people who make stupid threads here, mainly those of a person whos dj name includes a country in the carribean about new drugs or 'have u e ver stood on your head while on drugs' kind, but on the whole this forum isn't as bad. we need the random chats back tho
bring back the randomness!!!!!!

here are a few questions answered (i think)
a) we are trying to get an events subforum for the uk forum. this will get rid of the clutter without preventing people from knowing whats goign on where. also it will stop random foreigners comign in and posting "what on in london on >date<", we reckon.
b) a radio stream subforum for MD. this is despiratly needed i know, which is why we are hoping it will happen sooner rather than later.
c) as for TA v2.0, swamper is busy trying to recuit designers (check the special subforum) to help with the facelift to the site, however i dont think a dramatic amount of change will happen to the forums as such, it's more the main page + a load of other features he's gonna implement.
