playstation 2 must have's ??

i have just got a ps2 for christmas and i was wondering what games i should get as i feel i have missed out on the ps2 as i have never owned one before now...

so what do you think are 'must have' games (old and new) for the ps2??

Posted by trunks1022 on Dec-18-2004 16:17:

for me

metal gear solids 2 and 3
final fantasy X (haven't played X-2)
EA sports games are good

i usually don't buy that many games so my collection is somewhat limited

SoulCalibur 2.

Rumble Roses!!11

jk jk jk One of the most painful games ever made.

I would say FFX, if you haven't properly played it, or the GTA series and the Metal Gear series in order.

"prince of persia: sands of time" and "prince of persia: warrior within"

all games mentioned are sure hit games, cant go wrong with them. If you want a fun game try out Katamari Damacy. its only $20 and is climbing up to be one of my favorite games. Goldeneye rogue agent is another good one.

For a serious suggestion look up a game called Rez

Its a sleeper hit from a while back, heres a part of a review for it from gamespy

quote:
At first glance, Rez sits in the most basic of genres: a track-shooter game. Your avatar moves through the levels, and you select targets as they fly by you in a 'mouse highlight' fashion. As you select enemies, fire off shots, and then hit them, your sound effects are synced to the music. You will find yourself trying to create aural and visual linkage as much as take down the bad guys. Your opinion on the soundtrack to Rez, like the graphics, will vary wildly based on what you consider to be artistic. The music would fit in well at a rave, and has some really great mixes within that style. The sound effects, as mentioned earlier, actually become part of the soundtrack, and are thus impossible to rate separately. Beats and hits mix with the driving background soundscape to create something at least slightly different from what you've heard before (even if you are a fan of games like Frequency). You can call it Trance, or you can call it just repetitive, but it definitely fits in well with the style of game

I would recommend Devil May Cry only the first one because DMC 2 was absolute trash. You should also check out Kingdom Hearts.

make sure to get Silent Hill 3! simply amazing game. pure horror.
resident evil is a fart in the wind compared to SH.

Rez is a great game if you can find it !

THANK YOU! Was wondering why this wasn't on the first page.

Anyways, try to get your hands on Klonoa: Lunatea's Veil (Klonoa 2) if you can. One of the best, if not the best, platformers for the PS2.

Wipeout Fusion!

Also get Wip3out for PS1. Its got better music, better gameplay and better (though less detailed/novelty) tracks. Only thing that lets it down in comparison to Fusion is the shoddy graphics, which were pretty good at the time though I guess. Plus, Wip3out will be cheap as chips!

Edit: someone will probably disagree with me and say that Wipeout Fusion is rubbish, as it got a lot of flack at the time, some times quite rightly, but most of the time not. But I just love all the Wipeout games to bits, and I dont even like racing games all that much!

I can also sort of suggest Zone of the Enders. The demo I played was great, but I never played the full game!

A little news in case you haven't heard:

WipeOut Pure, the next in the awesome WipeOut series, is scheduled to appear on the PSP (Playstation Portable) within the next year and a half. Look forward to it.

zone of the enders is wicked fun, but it can be passed on the hardest difficulty level in 1.5 hours no problem.

Indeed I had heard, but thanks for the info all the same!

Dont know if I love the Wipeout games enough that Ill splash out on a PSP to play Pure though!

Definitely keep an eye out for a game called "Ico". Great game, simple premise, vastly overlooked. It's quite old now too, but I dunno how easy it is to find.

Burnout 3 is out, and that's a whole lot of fun. It's not a game (like Gran Turismo) where only the car loving die-hards will enjoy it - it's all about going fast and crashing. Yay!

Socom II, I play it way too much. Gotta play online though.

Awesome game, indeed.

Look out for the upcoming Wanda and the Colossus from Sony. It's not a sequel but is basically a more modern Ico.

You should get Mortal Kombat: Deception, It's 10x better then the previous game Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
