Ronaldinho, best player of 2004

Congratulations. FIFA's Player of the year. Very well deserved.

Sucks for Henry, Shevchenko and others though.

Posted by fastmp3 on Dec-20-2004 21:34:

it was pretty obvious

I feel sympathy for Henry, he deserved it.

I'm just waiting for the world cup, where Brazil with Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka(IMHO - he will win the award within the next few years), Adriano, Edu and Roberto Carlos will dominate over everybody else...

Kaka is by far the most well rounded player in the world at the moment.

I think somtimes ronaldinhio can run about like a headless chicken. Altho his skills are unrivaled

Henry has a team built around him and destroys weak teams (like scoring 4 past Leeds) but often goes missing against the best defenders. He also doesn't seem to fit into the France team very well.

Ronaldinho on the other hand does it consistently against anybody and is impossible for defenders to keep quiet. He tore Real Madrid apart last month.

I prefer Ronaldinho's attitude as well, he doesn't show any arrogance at all. You can see he just lives for football and has great respect for all the great players out there. He's always smiling on the pitch and joking with the referee, congratulating teammates etc. He plays with passion every game. He is the ultimate team player, just look at Barcelona before they bought him, they were struggling in the league and now they are 10 points clear at the top of La Liga.

If I could have any player in the world in my team it would be Ronaldinho. We'll see him against Chelsea soon, I hope he destroys them.

I agree that Kaka deserves more recognition but he has been a bit inconsistent.

Adriano deserves more recognition as well for the way he has played for Inter Milan and his performances for Brazil in the Copa America.

He was virtually anonomous in all Four of the last celtic/barca games.

The guy did nothing vs. Milan except the last goal, and vs. Real, Albacete, Valencia, Numancia, Betis... the list goes on of games where knowone knew he was on the pitch. Take him out of the equation, Bar$a wouldn't differ in the standings. Take Xavi, Eto'o, Puyol and Gio from the team and they would be flickering with relegation.

I find it very ironic that people bitch and bitch and bitch about how RMCF is the cancer of soccer yet everyone can agree that a guy who does 2 kick-ups a game then goes hiding is the best player in the world.

Ronaldinho deserves this award so IMO FIFA made the best choice!!!

We've seen that with so many class players though, even when they're not having their best game they produce a bit of brilliance to win the match. And that's what he did against Milan with a bit of skill and a great shot. Against Real Madrid he was man of the match and against Valencia he produced a last minute equaliser.

But you sound like a Real Madrid fan so I don't think you'll ever agree with this.

Posted by SPANIARD on Dec-22-2004 03:25:

I am Madridista 100%, but I'm not as stupid as to look past class and to prove that I made excellent remarks on Eto'o, Xavi, Puyol and Gio who I believe have been the real key to Bar$a. I won't deny for about 3 months last season he(Ronaldinho) was on fire, no doubt, and I'm not saying he's not a good player, I'm just saying it's ridiculous how overated he is.

I understand what you're saying about players making individual nice goals, but where I disagree with you in the part of you saying class players can produce a moment of brilliance when really needed is that Ronaldinho doesn't contirubute anything to the team during the game in my eyes. The perfect example of what you're saying is someone like Zidane I think, and call me biased but when you need that moment of brilliance, there is none better. Ask Leverkusen in 02, ask England in 04. Another thing I don't get is what the hell has this guy done at club level? Sure, he's a world cup winner on a team that you could have put Catanha on and he would have been a star, but PSG never did jack nor has Bar$a with him there.

BTW he scored a PK vs. Valencia after he dived so blatantly to the point where even the Catalan press said it as a fact, and I can't say you're wong about him being MOM vs. us because that's an opinion.

I say Gazza should have won it. Those preformances he put in for Boston Utd were spectacular.

Anyway I could care less about this award. Its always gonna be debatable. Think if Henry or Sheva would have won it would have been justifiable too.

Also Blatter gives out the award so I hate it even more just because he touches it.

Posted by fastmp3 on Dec-22-2004 19:40:

fuck blatter the guy is a serious asshole

gazza as in paul gascoigne the coolest football player on earth , who would exchange a fan's sandwich for an autograph ? he's awesome

Posted by Dj Gracjan on Dec-22-2004 19:43:

the guys got talent what else can we say...hard work and dedication all pays off for a well deserved award

congrats for ronaldinho...I think hez an amazing player with a wonderful skill and personality...yet still I believe, and not becoz im a milanista, but..
Sheva > Ronaldinho

If only sheva played for some other nation better than Ukraine...he would've gotten more points...

oh yeah...and fuck blatter...arrogant piece of shit..

He deserved to be in second if you ask me. I wonder what makes you say that he deserves to be out of the first ten.
