Ironic...
I read an article by Oakenfold for CNN. In it he goes on and rants about CD mixing and computer-based music. He says:
quote:
Computers have made it easier for anyone to make a record but that's also brought the quality down. It's great that technology has made music more accessible but the biggest artists will still use traditional studio equipment because you get much better quality. The people I admire -- Liam Howlett of Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers and Orbital -- they are all artists primarily. The technology is secondary.

I bought myself a laptop, which completely reanimated my creative process because I was able to write anywhere I went... So, to summarize: What got me back on track was A) the laptop, and B) a program that let me feel Ive gone back and taken all the complication out of writing music. Yeah, I couldnt live without it. If Reason hadnt come along I would probably still be in my studio, depressed, going aww bloody ell, dont know what Im gonna do, you know? The technology available now frees the mind in the creative sense; Im able to think about the actual song a lot more, rather than just going its gonna take me an hour to do this or that.
lo funny as,
with a laptop for producing u need a good PCMCIA and obviously reason 2.5 , ive been looking in to it for mine
Howlett should have stuck with the studio equipment.
ye its abit like the old arguements about new technology..ye know..video recorders will ruin the movie business..digital cameras will ruin photography etc etc...they are yust extra tools of the trade so to speak..and anyone with talent will generally use anything new or old technology to get the required result.
