What happened in the Bernabeu was blown out of proportion. I remember loads of Sunderland fans making monkey noises at their own black player a couple of season ago, it never made the press.

However, if this had been England fans making the noise the punishment would have been harsher. UEFA are inconsistent and always have been.

Bah, media beat-up to take the focus off another poor England display.

that is bullshit.

England only played the 'black' players who usually play, and have to take unneccesary racist abuse all over eastern europe, and now spain. It was a disgrace, but the greek ref reported hearing nothign so fifa were powerless so they say to do a stiffer punishment.

I love Spanish football & Spain but that behaviour was unacceptable. Think of all the gifted black players who've helped spanish teams, from Roberto Carlos to Ronaldo to Ronaldinho to Etoo and so on. The punishment was barely that at all.

Oh shut up Spaniard. My cousin is half Spanish and just got back from Spain after a year of teaching English to children. He says Spaniards are some of the worst racists he has ever seen and personally heard the people he was WORKING with call the black England players "******s" and "monkies". It didn't seem to him that they felt sorry at all for the abuse.

And then Aragones has the balls to question ENgland's colonial past? excuse me? And Spain didn't have one? For fuck's sake...Spaniards caused the outright extinction of the indigenous peoples of Central and South America through war, slaughter and disease. What an idiot.

If you think Spanish people are racist, wait till you meet some Orthodox Greeks. Made a bunch of Greek friends last year. Were basically good hearted people but some of their offhand racist comments were really a shock.

It's almost as if it is accepted in South European society to mock other races. The thing that is lost upon a lot people is that they are not specifically racist against blacks but just about any race that is not European- Arabs, Indian, Chinese etc.

I think it's quite ignorant to think that racist sentiment will be quelled any time soon. But it seems to be really prevalent in Europe, especially among Spaniards, Portuguese, Greeks, etc. I know quite a few people from those backgrounds who think nothing of it to single someone out because of their race. A lot of it has to do with the historical rivalries embedded in European culture and rampant nationalism. Greeks are the best...Italians are the best, blah blah blah blah blah.

The jugadita has badly left you to discredit Madrid, but you have not obtained it
