Freefloat
Well I just bought a pair of freefloat, thinking that they were going to solve the skipping problems I was having however the freefloat made it worst, I cannot even touch the turntable w/o making the record skip. I do not know what to do but it really pissed my off because I thought they were made to fix skipping problems, not to make it worst !
Has any1 tryed them ?
Is there a way to set them up so if I touch the turntable the record won't skip ?
Cheers

I know I have watched 14 hours of Sensation Videos, with these being used, and I never heard anything skip, even when PVD or even the BLack Edition (hardstyle) DJ's were scratching and shit.. nothing skipped... SO can you explain why they are "horrible horrible horrible things."?? |
They are not very affective, they are way overpriced when there are various cheaper/more effective options.
Heres a thread full of plenty more negative info

Freefloats have been brought up many times in the past, most everyone that's tried them agrees that they are just overpriced pieces of shit. Buy a tube of tennis balls instead...
yep, nothing works like tennis balls cut in half.

I was going to buy those freefloats, but now I think I'll try the tennis balls insted, they're cheaper too
Aren't freefloats a bit useless for home use? You bought them for home use right? In that case you must have some really big PA system blowing the roof off, cause can't see the use in them at home
. But seriously tho, check your needle settings and how old are your needles?

I have a friend who lives in an old apartement with a wooden floor. If you jump/dance/walk on his floor, the whole apartment shakes. So he always had a skipping problem with his tt's.
Now he has freefloats and he was quite positive about them. I didn't believe him when he said they actually worked. So we tested them. We jumped on his floor as hard as we could, with, and without the freefloats beneath the tt's. And guess what, they DO work. There was no skipping with the freefloats and several without them. I was stunned...
When i first spun with the freefloats, it was a bit of an odd feeling when the tt moved like a flying carpet. But once i got used to the idea, i didn't have a problem what so ever.
I agree they are a:
-over hyped
-over priced
-ugly orange
piece of gear,
But they actually do work in some cases
ive used a long piece of plywood that fits 2 tts and mixer, and have that sitting on cut up raquetballs. works like a charm
razzi
beautiful inexpensive solution
you bet
apparently a sheet of glass works better than plywood.. but a sheet of glass isnt a few bucks
razzi.
But Tiesto uses them and puts their advert in his DVD so they must be good right??? I mean he _is_ the #1 DJ in the world.
I bought a set cause I had my TTs on a stainless steel table but they turned out to be hightly lame. I ended up putting my CD recorder on it so that the bass wouldn't make it skip. That is all it has been good for thus far.
