EN2T - Cloud Lake

Hey yall,
Well I've been working on this track for a good while now and wanted to share what I have so far. I focused on the energy and the melody in this one, so expect a steady, driving beat layed over an emotional riff - that's what I tend to go for in my tracks anyway But I think this one's got something new in it, and I wanna see what you guys think. So please take a listen to the sample, and let me know your opinions.

EN2T - Cloud Lake (192kbps updated sample)

Stan.

I like the intro. Im an intro dude but I never make them because I feel like a dj wont mix it. Great intro man! Sounds great. The melody is pleasent and catchy. Work it out some more and let us hear the rest.
Good luck

Awesome start man, keep it up and i am sure somebody might want to sign this: I'll do what i can to help ya

This Rocks man! The melody is exactly my like . Any chance you'll post the 192?

Good work.

Antonio.

well.....that main synth to me is too....well too bright sounding...
like maybe but a unison or such on it....
kinda spread the sound out and slight detune...

it sounds to clear and piercing...

just my opinion....

otherwise....AWSOME

wow.

Finally, been a while since i heard a catchy melody like this.

Melody could be used for some great prog i think .

I do agree on the synth, seems to lack low.

Posted by State of Matter on Dec-23-2004 18:59:

Wow, the melody in this is fantastic. I agree about the brightness of the synths. Also, I think you got a tad reverb happy, its pretty muddy even for an mp3. Maybe pull back on that a bit and do what you can to bring that melody up to the front of the mix where it belongs. Great work.

sounds pretty cool to me, only got shite speakers so i cant comment too accurately on the production, i like the melody a lot tho, would love to have it in full when you are finished mate. your stuff is really good now

Lombardo: Thanks for the good words! One thing though, this is a sample so it's supposed to start from the breakdown of the full track. The full version will not start like that though, it will probably start out with a kick and some other small stuff.

Dave: Thanks!

Antonio: Glad you like the melody. I won't be posting a 192 ver of this ... not immediately at least, first I want to see if it can catch any luck with labels.

Poochi: Agreed, I'll be tweaking the synth to be less harsh in the higher freqs.

Massive: Nice to hear your thoughts on the melody

State of Matter: hmm, I'll see what I can do about the reverb ... the muddy effect is probably caused the pad in the background, might have to eq it.

Luke: I'm real glad you like this as well, I'll let you know once the track is wrapped up to see if you would still like to play it.

Anyone else?

Stan.

listening.. melody comes rapidly.. cool melody.. but the synth is bright and sounds like V-Station, the bass is really cool.. do something with that screaming synth.. bass is mint..

Posted by Apyr0us on Dec-23-2004 23:24:

nice production man!
though I must say the melody isn't 100 % my thing.
put that;s just s matter of taste. not much to comment on (besides lead eq). very nice bassline and overall drive!
Good luck with finishing this! curious to listen to the whole.

Posted by Icone on Dec-23-2004 23:27:

Going pretty fine so far I think, except it's too full of high freqs (kinda hurtful to my ears at times ).

Other than that, I'm anxious to hear the full one

sweet EN2T. First impression is that it totally kicks assiest tramendious!!

the start is subtle. I like the emotional riff. I think you need to build it up a little more for a bit longer.

0:14 that rythme comes in really freaken loud. It sorta catched me by surprize. LOL.

0:42 This song soars when the bass drum kicks in. Absolutely perfect. Great bass!!

1:40 That rythme is great. Again; the bass is superb! after the feature/lead rythem in the first minute this more bass driven part is electrifying & I loved listening to it. It is a shame the sample only goes for a couple of minutes. I want more!!!

great stuff EN2T

edit: i want more too

Posted by Mane on Dec-23-2004 23:53:

ok guys, your feedback has been great, keep it coming please. As a result, I've worked on the main synth to make it less harsh without losing power, and the sample has been updated. Still same link, just re-download the track and you'll hear the difference.

Let me know what you think.

simply a kickass tune mate. The bass & bass drum are thumpen harder. The rythme isnt as harsh.

I have to say tho mate, that i liked it when it was more of a feature in the one prevously posted. It may have been peircing, but it had more character. this rythme now seems to be overpowered by the bass.

I freaken love this tune tho EN2T.

I think you over did it on trying to correct the highs or brightness like what others were saying, and it seems to sound more dry now, especially with that bassline at 30 sec to like 41 secs. Did you reduce the reverb as well, maybe that is why it seems more dry to me.

Now for the original sample you posted yesterday, yes i agree that you should reduce the Highs but just a tad, and yea it might sound like it has a few lows at times, but that is just the levels/mastering, which can be done later once the tune is fully finished.

I think now you need to give it a little more highs again, and more reverb, if i am correct by saying it was reduced.
I do have to say this second version here sounds fuller though, which is a good thing, you must of worked the levels already as well.

And also, remember about the structure we talked about for dj friendliness these past 2 days

Posted by TOR on Dec-25-2004 09:27:

great melody

Posted by Sunquest on Dec-25-2004 14:18:

hey man, this is wicked, when the melody of the synth hits, i hear pure anjunabeats, something like super 8 or ronski speed!
real nice soothing track man
keep it up and good luck with the release
peace out

Posted by en2t on Dec-28-2004 01:14:

Xenocreator_PG_: thanks! glad you like the track that much

dave: yeah you might be right, I'll be working on making the lead sharper and more rhythmic.

Dan1584: thanks bud

_Marco_: sorry to hear that, and no i haven't finished rhitma...maybe I should =)

TOR: gracias

Sunquest: i agree with the whole anjunabeats thing hehe, I must've been inspired.

Anyone else has comments?

Stan.
