ooh man that girl!!! wooooo ...*cleans up* anywho...i would kind of say its sad but not, a lot of people are into DnB around here saying trance is too fluffy or soemthing. Umm yeah .. there aren't as many great tunes. =[

Posted by Dj With No Name on Oct-25-2001 22:47:

I wouldnt say sad, but I would say SLOW... Were in a period where not much QUALITY TRANCE TUNES are being released... ( Now the thing is going better, with Gielen, Ayumi, etc ... Hopefully this bad period is about to end ! )

Cheers,
Dj With No Name

I still get great tracks everyday and to be honest I wish it would slow down a little. Everything moves so fast we hardly have to chance to stop and appreciate the tracks we already have. If you stopped downloading today and just listened to the tracks you already have for a month, I bet you would find tons that you never fully listened to...but would really go nutz for after hearing it a couple times. So take this break as an opportunity to listen to the hundreds or thousands of tracks you've only listened to once. Just my .02

Hahahahaa!
So true... I catch myself doing that sometimes... just turn off from all the newest releases for like a month, and browse thru my collection on HD or on my CDs...

Anyway, ant1832, where do you get your music from?

Posted by dazzed on Oct-26-2001 15:30:

yah there are a tons of releases. but to the guys who say there are tons of good trance tracks, define trance?

i hit up decadance every monday in the city and dennis gives me all the releases. its been mysterious and just deep progressive house. no good trance. its been over a month now and iv only bought 4 releases. this last week i finally got some cool stuff. i hope it picks back up...

I get from here, s-zone, rmf, HoM and from all the people who participate in TA Track of the Week. All of those combine to make @ least 10 new tracks a day to dl. I'm not saying they are all great tracks, but there are always a few gems in there.

Hello!

Yeah I guess things have been kinda slow but dont worry it will pick back up again towards the end of the year

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Oct-26-2001 23:12:

it depends on the type of music u listen to and how broad ur tastes are...for those who listen to all kinds of trance (goa, uplifting, progressive), this isn't that big of a deal cos they obviously have a larger selection of tracks to download...

i for one only listen to uplifting stuff and yes lately i haven't found any quality tracks...

peace

You're saying sad as in emotionally upset, right? Not sad as in pathetic, I hope. I can't stop listening to Vaiio and Delerium! If sad is bad I don't wanna be good!

Posted by Eugene on Oct-27-2001 01:44:

We are in a very sad period of trance, in fact if you ask most people they'll say trance is dead, and has been dead for a long time (about 2 years). Trance has been largely replaced by progressive house. If you go to a music store or amazon.com and go to the "Trance" page you'll see stuff like GU (which isn't really trance IMO) or some "theatrical music" by Paul Oakenfold which is good for anything but dancing, or some other minimalistic shit or acapellas, you won't find good hard trance nowadays. For example if you also visit some of the MP3 sites like ShadowZone almost everything there is crap. At PlanetxUsa.com where they showcase all new vinyl I haven't found a single trance tune that I've liked. It's that bad. On this site, people jump at every new 'trance' release like hungry animals trying to get at least something new that's remotely good. Stuff from Fire & Ice, Push, Signum, etc. - artists who, in trying to be 'cool' and 'in vogue' and progressive, have lost their touch and actually self-destructed. The ONLY good thing to emerge from this sad period is NuNRG - Dreamland. Clearly the selection is pretty weak nowadays...

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Oct-27-2001 02:16:

yep eugene u've said it...about 3 or 4 weeks ago i got one good song (cirillo-cristallo (pvd mix)) but thats been it...

i remember just a yr or so ago i'd find amazing stuff, stuff that exactly suited me, like every other day or so...awesum tunes...those days are gone ;(

i hardly ever find anything that suits me at shadow-zone, but still i always check there because he's got massive updates and archives, so u never know what u mite find...

peace

I agree with both of you guys (Eugene and AnotherWay83). Nothing "trance" nowadays have any raw, emotional energy for me anymore, except for NU-NRG - Dreamland, and Cape Town - StringRizer. Trance has lost its original feel, as music that puts you into a hypnotic state. Ah yes, last year, there was always at least one awesome track to find in every mix. I miss those days. Now I listen to other styles of music now, like UK-NRG, hard house, and especially freeform.

Posted by Zombie0915 on Oct-27-2001 18:20:

This is really driving me crazy because I know somewhere there is some awesome music that some unknown is playing that I'm missing out on. Ive only been around trance for a very short time, but i'm noticing a decline too, and I enjoy a lot of the cheesy stuff you guys hate because i don't hear that much trance, but now i feel it going down hill. I'm taking this time to catch up on all the trance that I missed out on before I discovered it(any help in that area would be greatly appreciated), and exploring other styles too. I'm thinking this it the time where the good multi-genre dj's are gonna step up, and sooner or later somone is gonna find the good trance that the world is missing out on right now and play it and start a revival. We could always try making it ourself too, but my skills in that area need some practice first.

Posted by BigLee on Oct-27-2001 19:28:

Yeah, there probably is someone out there spinning some awesome stuff right this moment, but that's always hard to find. The best stuff is all UG. Zombie0915 - try looking for DJ Tiesto live at Energy 2000. Awesome energy in that mix.

Posted by Zombie0915 on Oct-28-2001 22:28:

already got it, im not having much luck these days in my musical searching, the audiogalaxy groups are sending me songs that are all sounding the same, I am looking for some innovation, something new, something special. I believe that somone will come up with something new in trance soon, if it hasn't happened already.
