Sunquest - Rapid Rush (Sample)

enjoy, merry xmas, happy new year, happy holidays from ur pal Ron

peace out

PS: I KNOW THE SONG IS OVERCOMPRESSED, I DID THAT ON PURPOSE!!!

Posted by Perry on Dec-25-2004 14:44:

hey roni
well here we go first i really like those gated choirs ... u need to decrease the kick's volume since its swollowing the bass...in its start point awesome melody and pads the only thing that disturbs is the kick :d replace it or eq it.
Ch33|2s.

Very Nice one

i think the final version will be awesome and i'm with perry about da kick it need to b eq

keep da good work

Posted by State of Matter on Dec-25-2004 15:19:

Cool stuff, has the potential to be massive if the production is slightly tighter. Try to bring those sounds to life more, right now they're kind of static, play with some eq and really bring the timbre out of every note.

Posted by JoeyEnv on Dec-25-2004 15:30:

POST A FULL ONE DAMMIT!!!

Massive potential this, melodically uplifing and structurely sound as always. Agree with Perry though, kick compression is fading the bass out. Just tweak that abit and you've got a winner.

is it me, or does this sound too.. compressed? the track is being sucked in by the kick. I like how this song isn't too epic or massive, just more chilled out.

this is one of the better songs of your productions, more chilled out

Posted by retiro on Dec-25-2004 22:39:

Hey liking this! You sure have the 'Push Style' sound sorted! Kind agree with the guys the kick just needs turning down! Their is a little distortion along the way - noticed especially the fx at 1min 6 secs in the sample (obviously it would be sorted at final mix down)! Apart from that a solid production!

Posted by Subtle on Dec-25-2004 23:19:

good melody, a little push sounding, although his synths are much fatter, good atmosphere, kick sounds good, but way too upfront, melodies very good, maybe a little blurry

Posted by Merlot on Dec-25-2004 23:35:

I dig it man. Everything sounds great. I am into the compression also. i like the way the kick stands out on my monitors. Maybe wont sound as good in a club system though

Posted by GRW on Dec-26-2004 00:23:

love it and u know it
good work

hahahahahha.... WHOOOOPS, forgot to read ALL of the first post, but i guess my point is, i don't know why you did that on purpose, would've sounded much better without all of that compression

Posted by Sunquest on Dec-26-2004 03:14:

thanx guys i geuss i gotta fix that kick hehe

Posted by alexpea on Dec-26-2004 14:58:

First of all, haven't you learned anything from mastering-tutorials? Don't compress the song at all dammit I think the melodies and stuff are great. One of your absolutely best productions, imo. Because everything you produce is boring to my ears Yet very impressive!!! I think you're a skilled producer when it comes to PRODUCE, but you're not so creative. Work on that! I think Joey Waters is one of the most creative producers here. And of course Samuelzone. They can make melodies. You can't, imo. Though this one is quite good. So, next time, find a good melody, and you're going to hit big

I never involve my self with other peoples opnion.

But saying Samuelzone is more creative and better at melodies than Sunquest is the biggest joke i ever heard..

His remix of spin is boring, and his other tune he posted is boring, and if you talk about over compressing, Samuel is a pro with over compressing , his stuff make my winamp spectrum cry.

Quote alexpea's comment above - 'Because everything you produce is boring to my ears Yet very impressive!!!'

How does this work? Something can't be boring yet impressive ! Talk about contradict yourself man!

Sunquest did say he over-compressed on purpose - testing respones I guess!

People who post on TA forums are producers who want critics to improve there production prowess - however their are many different opinions; that when a producer reads their feedback it can be kinda confusing!

Posted by staticblue on Dec-26-2004 16:45:

excellent sounds uve got there.

i think the lead pattern could be better, the position of the notes make it kinda "jumpy" and it gives less flow. try and see how you can fix that

love it otherwise

static

Posted by TOR on Dec-26-2004 17:33:

the melody is f*cking great. eyes closed and hands in the air, definitely.

dunno if it's the compression, but watch the distortion at 0:25 and at 1:05 caused by the sub bass.

i love the synths, but try to have them cover more stereo space. the mix sounds a bit static at the moment.

loads of potential in this one!

Posted by jcosgrove on Dec-26-2004 18:46:

its not bad but it doesn't stand out-melody isn't over special...but i always dig your stuff ron.

sunquest is one of the best melody-makers on the boeard imo!

Sunquest is one of the most skilled producers here on Ta, yes, but he makes boring melodies, imo. Nevertheless, his productions are VERY impressive when it comes to HOW they're produced. and hey, the one who said Sunquest makes better melodies than Samuelzone has to be kidding me!!!! Samuelzone posts a lot on trance.nu and if you listen to "Blinded By Love" "Ridler" "Snowflake" "Gain In The Ass" you will agree. He got signed with "Twisted Twister" though I don't think it's that good... And yeah, I think his Spin Remix and his Binary Finary Remix is boring. But hell he's a good producer!! And btw he doesn't master his songs at all, so it's impossible for him to overcompress a song Well, I like Sunquest, and I know his capable of making a hit. He just has to use the right melodies. I've said this many times before about him, and I remember Mike Foyle getting very angry at me. I'm just trying to help Because when you can produce SO good as Sunquest, you shouldn't waste your talent on boring melodies. And I know many agree with me. When this is said, I liked THIS production more than his others. Because of an improved melody Now, Sunquest, if you manage to make that hit-melody, I know you'll go big. No doubt.

Posted by dannyc on Dec-26-2004 20:21:

not one of your best sunquest imo, that kick defo needs compression work. i cant really get a feel for the track you really need to post full version

reckon it could be promising when finshed thou

hey m8 whats up
no hard feelings takin
i just wanna say, (Gain in the ass? lol now thats a name!) but anyways, i got 2 releases coming on 2 pretty big labels... with 1 big remix, so u'll be surprised and i dont share all my stuff... but its ok because its ur opinion and u have ur rights , ill try make a hit track for u next time thanx for feedback

ur pal, Sunquest

PS: about the compressing thingy, i like to overcompress for fun to make the song real nice and loud on i like to have it sound like a radio rip, because it just rocks, reminds me of sounding in a club, but the final products i ddont overcompres... so dont worry

Posted by alexpea on Dec-26-2004 20:34:

Gain In The Ass actually fits for the track. Hear it, and you'll understand
