Asking DJs to ID tracks?

Has anyone tried, when unable to ID a tune or find someone to do it on TA, asking the DJ who played the tune? Any successes?

most deejays can't remember because they get so many records and most of their memories are horrible. I mean they get a white label, they have no clue about the artist at times. Some deejays are really good at it but most are really bad.

also some djs like to keep it secret hehe

Ive run across a couple of these guys.. but mostly they just wont know or forget.

im sure if you gave them a description though.. they could narrow it out.. most djs are good with that. And their tracklistings dont usualy vary so much weekly

i think any professional dj knows at least 90% of the tracks they play even if they are whitlabel.. otherwise.. how do they distinguis the whitelabels appart?

I dont know about other djs but with me i remember tunes when i hear it and when im mixing i just think OH SHIT THAT SONG WOULD SOUND WICKED HERE. thus i have my record boxed organised like that i dont actually remember the name but the style of how it goes, im shit for names but i could probly sing the intire hyper remix of stupid if you asked me too. Thus it might be easier for you to sing them a bit of the song if your not too ashamed lol. Also if you want you can send em a sound bite that usually helps, As for the dj being nice enough to help well that depends on the dj as we are indeed humans, Except for James Zabieli , im sure hes an andrioid

AT the end of the day, what do you have to lose, its worth a shot to ask the dj.

I emailed Dumonde a few months back asking if they happened to know a track they played in 2002! Wasn't expecting an answer but gave it a shot anyway, and they managed to answer it - I now have that vinyl in my box.
