-- F-ing tonearms.....
F-ing tonearms.....
gah...
2 problems. one is ongoing and ive just ignored it.... the other might be a little more pressing.
ok. problem A) on both of my tt-100s, the tonearms naturally go outward....without any antiskating. when i go to balance them, and first set em to zero, they pull to the outside. i kno its bad... but so far ive just been like "fuck it... ill just leave the anti-skate at zero..."
problem B) ive recently noticed that for one of my tonearms, the suspension of it is vibrating, emitting a buzzing sound with from just about every bass kick on a record.
its about time i got problem A fixed for both my tonearms, so where should i go about doing that, or dare i try to look up a site with do-it-yourself instructions...
and even if i cant do that, should i worry about problem B?
problem a) sounds like the horizontal balance has fucked up on the tonearm. you should leave anti-skate at 0 anyway as back-cueing with anti-skate on will fuck your records. as far as i am aware, with tt100's they will have to go in for repair, its not something you can do yourself without taking the things apatr totally.
problem b) sounds like a screw is loose, may as well get it sorted with problem a. you should worry aboyt it, because if the tonearm system is vibrating, you can imagine how that will resonate back through the stylus and onto the record. it won't be doin g them any good, lets put it like that
