800 looping
when i try to make a loop I press in (in time) then i press out but i always fail to make a good sounding loop, even when the beat is just a hi hat, ride and bass. Is there any other way to do this for example touching the 4 while on the first beat.
any ideas
you can edit the end of the loop and change its position by making the loop then when its going around, click the out button and then move it with the jog wheel. clicking the out button sets the loop
Yep, I experience the same thing... it is difficult to get a proper sounding loop unfortunately, but it's really all in the timing. It is possible to get a good sounding loop but you have to play with it a little... another fun use for the loop is hitting the In and then the Out immediately... you'll create a nice machine-gun effect good for buildups and other things.

i always use the 1/8 loop for almost perfect loop when theres a similar repetative sound that i wanna keep when mixing tracks on my 800's. And yes practice on the in and out those arent that simple to make a perfect loop of a more longer sample.
I don't trust the auto-loops. They are rarely, if ever, accurate enough to match with another tune. Use the manual loops. It takes a good amount of practice, but after a while, you can get it really close on the first try, and only hav to make minor adjustments to the loop out point. As with anything in this hobby, practice makes perfect.
Just wondering what exactly is the Auto Beat Loop feature on the 800's? How does it work?
its basically a button where u can get it to do either of the following ..
1 beat
2 beats
4 beats
8 beats
or there is the manual where u select the in and the out of the loop (upto 8 beats)
