I think Terry....maybe better striker than defender....

Titus Bramble.

I hope you are being sarcastic. From what I have seen of him this year he has been quite mediocre (even poor at times), epitomising Newcastle's reversal in fortunes.

John Terry
Radhi Jaidi
Sol Campbell
Jamie Carragher
Matthew Upson

Some will say your a bit biased with Jaidi on the list but I 100% agree with you, great player.

the guys like a brick shithouse, we could do with 3 more of him at the back and 1 of him upfront so we can also score

ohh come on!

Ferdinand!

Steven Taylor looks like he's going to be a class future England centre back. He's only 18 years old but has captained the England under-21s. I watched him playing at right back last night against Arsenal and he played Pires out of the game! He also came inside and cut Henry out of the game as well. He raised the biggest cheer of the night when he did a completely legal tackle to clatter Pires to the floor and come away with the ball. We were lucky to keep him from signing for Man Utd a couple of seasons ago, he's a local lad full of passion for his club.

Tbh the english premier league has some really bad defenders. Out of all them tho, john terry, sol campell and rio ferdinand stand out.

If boumsong joins newcastle then he will be a great buy - fuckin excellent player I tell the.

The Glasgow Herald, The Telegraph and The Sun all say an 8M deal will be finalised today (Friday). But the Telegraph also say that he will allowed to stay in Scotland for the Celtic game on Jan 9th and will make his Newcastle debut at home to Southampton on the 15th.

What kind of defender is he anyway? Is he a leader who can organise the back line? I need some info on this guy, I know he was in the France squad for Euro 2004 but I've only seen him play once and don't remember. 8M seems a bit steep for a defender unproven outside the French and Scottish leagues. Do you reckon he will cut it in the EPL? We could have a whole new back line in the next few weeks so it'll take some time to gel but anything has to be an improvement on Bramble and O'Brien, only West Brom have leaked more goals than us.

We're also supposed to be close to signing Distin from Man City as Souness tries to completely rebuild our shit defence so he'll have French company at centre-back and I think Babayaro speaks French (Bernard's almost certainly on his way out as his contract's up in summer).

terry, carvalho , ferdinand , ledley king , campbell and de zeeuw have all done exceptionally well this season .... but my vote would have to go to Emile Heskey ...

I wouldn't say he is a leader, he is just the sort of player who knows exacty what he is doing. He always looks comfortable with or without the ball. Agreed 8m is steep, but rangers are trying to take newcastle to the cleaners to clear their debt.

I'm sure he will cut it in the epl, I'd say he is better than anything that newcastle currently have in their back line.

That's not much of a complement unfortunately.

At least Taylor looks like he has someone decent he can learn alongside. Wouldn't want him learning his trade off Bramble and O'Brien.
