Mixer

I'm looking for a fairly cheap mixer that doesn't have that cutoff on the sound on the crossfader before you hit the end of the line

Vestax pcv275 has a curve like that.

Thats the cheapest I know.

Posted by Ken_Allen on Dec-30-2004 03:59:

Someone said it had the same problem I have with the djx700 currently...sound shuts off before the crossfader gets to the end

Posted by jupiterone on Dec-30-2004 04:44:

it actually does have the cutoff line when you get to the end believe it or not, atleast mine does. unles you wanna move it 1 millimeter a second so it doesnt.

alot of battle mixers have this feature, as it lets turntablists get very fast cuts while scratching. some cheap mixers (stanton, etc) have a xfader curve adjustment to get either a smoother or sharper curve on the xfader.. you may want to look into some of those

razzi.

I'm not sure, but I think the Numark DXM series has an adjustable crossfader curve. At least the DXM06 has it. They're fairly cheap and pretty good for the price too.

Posted by TranceSpeeder on Dec-30-2004 06:05:

i got the dxm03 and it has it.

I'm not looking for crossfader curve...I have that on my current mixer.

The Crossfader cuts the sound before it hits the end of the line & it sounds like ass...I need one that stops at the very end.

there is a little thing u need to twist around, its called a cf slope.

Posted by Ken_Allen on Dec-30-2004 06:50:

Yeh no shit...It's already on minimum curve...THE SOUND STOPS BEFORE it hits the end metal part

Ok...my amazing paint skills

im pretty sure the cf slope does that.

Posted by Ken_Allen on Dec-30-2004 06:59:

DUDE...THE CF SLOPE IS TURNED TO MAX CUTTING SO THERES NO FADING ALREADY

Posted by DannyO on Dec-30-2004 07:06:

That would be what the CF curve/slope would control, but of course the quality of that CF adjust depends on the mixer, its a simple feature, but you get what you pay for in the DJ industry, save more money and get something high range, or check out the new UMX mixers, they have always had a good reputation and there cheap, a good scratch mixer will have a good Xfader like you want, but you need to spend more money if you want a mixer for Trance music and also a good xfader for that, maybe check Denons X300 that looks to be good quality, oh you also want to check to see how sharp the xfader is at cutting in, thats all I can help you with, I rarely use the xfader and don't know much about them.

Posted by tu_face on Dec-30-2004 09:54:

by the sounds of it, your xfader curve is set at where you have set it. the reason it mutes before the end of the fader is because you have it set to a sharp cut. my amazing paint skills:

the main point of this is so that you dont have to be arsed to make sure you fade to the end to get a cut, and thus can cut faster and sharper. by the sounds of it, you want a shallower curve.

if you are looking for a new mixer, get the pcv275, the xfader is amazing.

Posted by jupiterone on Dec-30-2004 14:40:

If the xfader is amazing than why does it do the same thing to me....

que? you have a 275? the xfader is supposed to have a sharp curve on it.

Posted by Luke Terry on Dec-30-2004 15:48:

use the volume faders aswell, or... just use the volume faders

the 275 does NOT have a sharp curve, it has a very mellow curve oriented for mixing rather than scratching. trying to scratch on this mixer is fuckin hard! there is no CF curve adjust either.

I find scratching on this mixer easier when I crank up the gain on the channel with the scratch record.

Speaking of crossfaders, my pcv275s crossfader has these little brown marks on it that arent coming off with a q-tip or anything...I hope my faders arent corroding...

How about a good cheap scratch mixer good for fast cuts

Could go alittle higher and get the X300, has fully adjustable Xfader and has some good EQs.

Posted by Inertia on Dec-30-2004 23:09:

well while we're on the subject, can people tell me what are the mixers that are fairly priced that have a nice 'curve' on the volume faders? i'm tired of mixers that only start/die at 70% of the way or so.
