If there is consciousness after death, I think it's pretty much the few seconds it takes for your life to leave your body

"u watch the video and you wake up dead!
How the hell u gonna wake up dead? ur already dead!"
scary movie 3 was the best of the trilogy

anyways, i would think that you might remain concious until the lack of oxygen kills the brain. i think with the electricity sparking up in ur head would mean activity is still going on up there

Satan (eek!)

Interesting......I just hope theres life after death

I'm thinking Clinical Death resembles your everyday dream state. The article itself expresses there is a definite difference between Clinical Death, where some bodily process still carry on, and Biological Death, where there is a complete cessation of all functions and resuscitation is impossible. So, I think that its still believable that people in the Clinical Death state still have the ability to dream and they misconstrue this as the great beyond.

Well if you are catholic, or even chistian you have to believe in life after death. I just hope when I dye I become a ghost so I can mess with people. That would be tight.

yeah, after reading what the people said they saw, or the stories, when they 'died' (clinical death) i think its all based on what they believe, or what they wanted happen to themselves.

and perhaps after we die 'biological death' our basic brain still can think and remain conscious from some -behind the scenes- activity going on. kinda like dark matter keeping it alive. kinda keeps me thinking now, but nobody really will know perhaps ever, but at least until some major tech breakthroughs (aka future )

dark matter would react with regular matter and would explode.

energy cant be created and energy cant be destroyed.

so what happens with the energy that fuels us? something must happen to it

If you're talking about energy we use to do bodily functions, then the energy is used to do bodily functions.

I have few theories of my own.

After you "die" you go into another port or world where you serve the same function as you did previously and this just continues(ur another human, but different..maybe different sex, race..etc)

Another is when you die, you're born again. There are babies being born every sec, so for every person that dies there is a child born somewhere.

See, the body just doesnt function by itself. It needs something...Like a soul. A soul is there forever, it just changes bodies..

There are so many things that are undiscovered and this is another mistery.

One day we will be able to skip into this another parallell world/port and death is not going to be a depressing/sad thing. You just know you wont see this person for a while..

Basically what Vivid Boy said that there is some kind of energy that doesnt die, it just transfers

See, i think humans got a bad perception of "death"...there really isnt death its just a departure somewhere else, where you either do the same thing and ur the same person or ur just somebody else and just be another human. Human body is just like a hotel for this energy to stay in for a while and then move out and go transfer somewhere else....

life and death to me is an ascension of consciousness towards everything, or nothing. Your Choice.

Posted by Allied Nations on Dec-11-2005 07:11:

I think a lot of you people give the human race a lot more credit than it deserves.

Posted by AlphaStarred on Dec-11-2005 07:11:

I could've sworn this has been peviously discussed..

Ooh, thx for link

Posted by constantreality on Dec-11-2005 07:57:

for the most part everything has been discussed before.

life is just a satire of previous events.

believe whatever fairytale you want to make your life seem better.

everyone else does.

Have you guys heard of the Holographic Universe Theory? google it up, great read. A scientific experiment which suggests that there is life after death....sort of.

Posted by OurManFlint on Dec-11-2005 10:02:

Remember what it was like before you were born? That's what it will be like when you die. Absolutely nothing. I think it is now necessary to quote Nietzsche:

In some remote corner of the universe, poured out and glittering in innumerable solar systems, there once was a star on which clever animals invented knowledge. After nature had drawn a few breaths the star grew cold, and the clever animals had to die. How wretched, how shadowy and flighty, how aimless and arbitrary, the human intellect appears in nature. There have been eternities when it did not exist; and when it is done for again, nothing will have happened.

Think about it...

i dont think that humans die and are born again because, at many times in history, the birth rate has fallen below the death rate. are sould waiting in line to have a body assigned to them. and what about babies who die, defeats the purpose of being "born again".

i believe somethign happens to our energy. wether we are concious or not when we are in this state who knows. i mean shit maybe our energy is used to start another assholes car. i dont know. im just saying something must happen to the shit that fuels us. it just doesnt distinguish

Posted by _Nut_ on Dec-11-2005 17:08:

Im in a hole on this topic. By nature I need proof (that is why I am a scientist). I believe that when the body dies... all function stop... mental, physical, physiological etc. Something has to drive everything we do. When that driving mechanism stops.... what drives those processes? Yes I was born and raise a catholic.. but my views are 180 different now.

Somehow prove it and I will reverse my thoughts.
