Hey nchs09,
Are you still gonna be up in Montreal on the 21st of January? If so, I invite you to come to the trance theater 2 party in Quebec City. SETA Dj Suzy Solar will be playing a 3 hour set at Elements afterhours. http://suzysolar.com/trancetheater2/

omg, what a weekend.... mario, we tore montreal UP!!!! and shoutouts to Bree (sunshine79), your NY crew (Patrick and Jay), and Nick (Epicurous) and his whole crew too

thursday afternoon, we arrive in montreal, start drinking at 1pm.... continue doing so til 3am

new year's eve, spend all day and early evening drinking, then meet up with bree and crew, and nick and crew, and head over to celebration - get in by 11, hear the end of eddy jasmine's set (SICK SICK SICK tech house, local montreal DJ), then onto DJ Sneak (so so), then Simon P (TA, really good!), DJ Dan (first time seeing him, and was quite impressed), then our man Sander (ridiculous set, more out-of-nowhere, BANGING tracks, leaving us to only be able to ID the new fruit remix, song 2, and the whistle song), and finally Max Graham (I wasn't that impressed with him, probably just because he was playing softer than the entire night's ridiculously hard tech feel). Each set was 3 hours, and we stayed til pretty much the end (11:30am)... what a fucking party! Not only were all the sets very good, but this venue was amazing... very well-run event, AMAZING lights and sound system (although it did fuck up a little), and that place was packed - well over 10,000 people... not too mentioin, i have never seen so many people sooooooo fucked up at a party this size

so, we walk home from celebration, crash for 4 hours, meet back up with Bree and her crew, then head over to stereo... not sure if yall are familiar with this club, but it's supposedly ranked #1 in north america, over space, and im sorry to say FLTAs, I think that's about right This is an afterhours club, open thurs/fri/sat/sun 11pm-6pm, loved by many in montreal... it's a very basic club - one big room, 20 foot tall speaker walls in each corner, 1 bar (serving only water, red bull, and orange juice of course hehe) 2 very large massage sections ( ), and enough seating around the main dance floor for all the fucked up people to chill out. The most interested thing about this club, though, is that the center of attention is not the DJ booth - it's the dance floor, which is in the center of everything, and where everyone is always looking - why? because it has the most insane lighting system and operator i have EVER seen... there are 2 life sized trees in the room, surrounded and filled with a ridiculous assortment of lights, a gigantic disco ball, and two 2-foot diameter siren lights on each speaker wall... what really made lighting system was how it was used though - the lights were so impressively worked, and went SOOOOO amazingly well with the music, I honestly had almost as much fun just watching the lights as I did listening to the music anyway, enough ranting and raving about stereo, if you ever get a chance, check it out - i will be back there for sure

As for the music there, it was very good... 2 montreal guys spun from 11pm-5am, some really good funky/techy/tribal house, and then David Morales banged it from 5am-6pm, absolutely DESTROYING the crowd, one track after another - out of all my partying, i have NEVER seen a crowd go as apeshit as these people did this morning/afternoon in that club... this is truly an experience, you MUST go to stereo!

so, there you have it! mario and i had a BLAST, and met some awesome people (Bree, we will be talking a lot more now!!!)

Happy New Year's Everyone!!!!

And I miss my ATL crew!!

As was mine!!!

Here is my review of Toronto, as we had so much fun that we negated our trip to Montreal because we had so much fun we did not want to leave!

Spent my New Years in Toronto with my girlfriend.

Went to see Sander Kleinenberg at System Sound Bar which was fantastic. He layed a set down that had the crowd going nuts for 3 hours.

When Sander got off the decks we headed to Guvernment for a legend in Canada... Mark Oliver who rocked a 10 hour set of hard techno and tech trance. He has held a residency at Guvernment for 9 years now and packs the house week after week.

This club is massive...with over 8 rooms of sound. It also had a full color 30 watt laser in the main room with tons of bounce mirrors that was 15 feet in length. The place is also equiped with a moving lighting rig and train horns. I thought that Club Space had my top award in North America for best nightclub before I attended this place. Anyone going to Toronto owes it to themselves to check out Guvernement. It truly is the pinnacle of nightclubbing IMHO.

Saturday we went back to Guvermenet and then went to BOA Redux for
Morales, Chus & Cebellos, and Tom Stephan for the afterhours. This event started on Friday at 9pm and ended on Sunday at noon.

We got there in time for Chus and Ceballos (6:30 am), and I was quite impressed with them. They closed down the night with a 6 hour set of nasty tribal and progressive to a packed out crowd of roughly 1500 people. Very dark and dingy venue with a fantastic soundsystem. In fact every where I went in Totonto had spectaular sound (DynaCord Alpha stacks mostly)

Overall a great New Years for the 2 of us. The people in Toronto have a general concern for others which was refreshing. I will most certainly return there when I have more time to visit and see the sites.

Hagen
