REVIEW: Talla 2XLC @ Viva

well i came in a bit late for talla, aroudn 3.40. and he was dropping a wicked tune as i was coming in. and he just kept them coming. he had some really nice mixes with songs which sounded great. after, drag n fly started to spin aroudn 4.30 and he really put on some hard stuff. kinda different from wat i like, but it was still awesome to dance to.

the place was pretty full when i came in. the usual ppl standing around the sides all stoned. near the dj booth, ppl were ripping it up though, as was i . during talla, i saw tordan and then introduced me to loca and loconet (sry i didnt get ur names guys, btw im alex ). it was very nice meeting all of u. and thx again for the drive back ben!!!

only thing that i didnt like is the thing with the water. first of all, 3.75 for a 281mL bottle is ridiculous. when i came, i brought my own bottle, sealed up. but security took it away then second, there was not a lot of air in the club during some parts which made it hard to dance

over all the night was amazing. great lighting work Jay!!!!

I got to viva around 12:30am. Place wasnt really packed then, and the dj was playing some good tunes. There was enough place to dance so it was good. The second dj came on (no idea who he is, asian dude with spikey hair). Didn't enjoy his set at all, except for the fact he dropped nirvana and born slippy Otherwise didnt find his set very flowing at all.

Talla came on around 2:30am and he played a fairly hard set, it was pumping. The bass at viva was a bit too loud for me but overall it was good. There were enough pitstops for us to catch our breath and then go nuts again

After talla it was drag n fly and his set was pretty hard too. Left around 5:30

Overall a good night out.

But yea the water was ridiculously priced.

all i know is that the water bottles looked like sex toys

i had a great time.

we packed 3 cars....drove from london to TO
got there about 10:30ish....equipment problems caused us to wait
in the fucking cold!!
eventually got in there....and more equipment problems....from what i heard one of the djs had to drive home and bring his table(s)
the music was really wicked all night i would have to say....Talla was sick.....got a picture taken with him (thanks to the Asian DJ...u rock bud)
was nice for Drag'N'Fly to end the night with the hard trance!!
all in all a sick night....

You are very welcome about the picture!!!

I feel much better that at least some people realized there was equipment problem, and that definitely caused alot of difficulty when I came on. And "yes", I went home and brought my table so Talla could drop that wicked set.

Besides the equipment problem, I had a great time on or off the decks!!!

Happy New Year, guys!!!

Man, that was a sick fuckin party! Talla was incredible! I had high expectations after downloading some of his sets; he met them and then some! He kept dropping awesome hard mixes of many of my old favorites, one after the other. Holy fuck, a tech-trance mix of Take Me Away? DAYM! Only wish his set was longer! Missing the first 45 minutes didn't help either. Arggh! But yea, wicked night still! Those of you complaining about the price on water should have just asked the bartender to give it to you in cups. Me and my girl got like 6 big cups throughout the night and didn't pay a cent.

I had planned on going to Boa then changed to Systems on the 31st but ended up at Viva. Loca, loconet, a friend and I got there around 3 and Talla was already pumping out some awesome trance tunes. Track of the night has to be a remix of for an angel with lyrics from silence. Drag n fly came on after him and kept us moving until close around 7.

Viva wasn't as packed as I thought it would be and there was plenty of room to dance. The vibe was pretty good and everyone (who wasn't too fucked up on drugs) was having a great time. We met some TA lurkers and some kids just getting into the scene. It's refreshing to meet people so excited about trance and wanting to do all the big clubs and events. It was nice meeting smuncky for the first time and also running into d!abolic and his girl. My first time spending NYE @ Viva and I had an awesome time.

Hey Ben...I was looking out for you at BOA and when Schryer showed up I thought for SURE you'd be there...oh well..I was SOO tempted to go to VIVA instead & I think that NEXT time I should go with my gut instinct.

SUCKS. Two tracks like that are both CLASSICS should never be remixed in that way imo.
For a revolt is better.

Friday night was some funtimes at VIVA for sure DJ Key had a nice set Key is a pretty friendly guy as well. Next up Talla killed it Met my expectations and went beyond them as well and was getting the crowd hyped up from the booth Drag N'Fly impressed me with his closing set which had a Yoji track in there,2 Underworld tracks and a track from Prodigy which was fun and was playing some really hard stuff as well

It was fun to see the MC talking about DJ's and stuff and then he mentioned Jayx1 on lighting and the crowd went nuts and then the MC was like "give it up for Jayx1" and everyone in front of the DJ booth went nuts again so the TA Jayx1 fan club was out in full effect and it was really easy to tell who was a TA because everyone in front of the DJ booth was going nuts and couldn't stop dancing

Tordan it was nice seeing you although I thought you would be taller Lots of hot chicks were there and at times it felt like I was GUV with all the out of towners who were there
The Hamilton chicks who told me they were professional dancers who did broadway and exotic dancing were funny because how hard is it to say you are a stipper when you got fake boobs and look like one and when exotic dancing is obviously stripping?

It was nice to see Cyrus and his crew and the Vancouver peps there as wellThat go go dancer with the J-Lo ass owned me Overall a good and fun night at VIVA
I still wish I could have got that blue cd that lots of people were walking around with but oh well

Posted by Jayx1 on Jan-03-2005 03:13:

I was the MC LOL..but i said "yours truely Jayx1 will be doing the lighting tomorrow night".... Not "lets give it up for Jayx1"

Posted by DJ Key on Jan-03-2005 05:25:

Jay buddy, you did well with and without the laser, you just rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, bro!!!

Hey man it was like 5 or 6 am when you said it so I didn't know what the hell was going on, plus I was in the VIP area at the time so I couldn't really see your face but it sounded like "something something Jayx1" and then a big cheer and then "something something Jayx1" and then came an even bigger cheer from the front row once again and I was thinking wow I have never heard a lighting guy get such a big cheer in my life Jay must have been feeling like a TA superstar on that night Awesome lighting once again and good job on Saturday too

Posted by Jayx1 on Jan-03-2005 15:14:

The biggest cheer of all was when i did a shoutout to all the tranceaddicts in the house.

That was pretty cool.

Well... i've finally more or less recovered from the night. Viva isn't usually my favorite place to go to but we went there on a total whim.
Turns out it was a totally wikkid idea!
Got there around 2:30 (i think??) to hear Talla playing from the parking lot. loconet had told me previously how good Talla was as a DJ if what you want to hear is trance. Needless to say, i was already quite excited just hearing the music at the door.
Walked into Viva to find the club was not at all full! Lots of room to dance, and, surprise, Jayx1 doing the lighting!
Met a few randoms (as you always do), a bunch of kids just getting into the scene (that was sweet, kinda makes you wonder how you must have looked back then), and all in all had an absolute blast! Talla was AWESOME and Drag'n'Fly killed me at the end!

Nice to have met Smuncky that night, you're a trooper! To my usual party crew: my gorgeous bf loconet, brother Tordan, Puru, you guys are what makes going out worth it! Can't wait to be out with you guys again
