A better work station than reason

Is there a better workstation or sequencer than reason for the pc?

cause i love it to death but always have some pc issues with it.

looking for a more stable workstation any ideas?

i only really use it for the sampler and drum machine and vocoder
but im sure i could get that elsewhere. with a much more expernsive or just better product.

Reason is the most stable sequencer I worked with so far. Which kind of problems do you have because maybe the problem isn't caused by Reason itself.

If you have Reason, you don't need to look further for an other sequencer. Reason can do everything you need to do. ( btw, how come you don't use the internal synths of Reason. They are really great if you put some effort into it. ) If you have hardware synths in your studio, then you should look for more "proffesional" sequencers like Logic and Cubase/Nuendo. Anyway, there is a sticky in this forum that tells everything about sequencers.

logic or cubase on a mac
Cubase on an atari is rock solid and will never ever crash

basically for music, pc is not the best platform to use

Except the older VST versions, forget about Cubase SX on Macintosh. If you want to see an unstable program, this is the best example.

Besides, I'm against the belief that Mac is better for Music/Video creation. It might have been true some years ago, but the gap has closed to a point where there is no better or worse, it just comes down to preference. A well configured PC DAW is as stable as a well configured Mac DAW. Point.

And before you say I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm using both platforms on a daily basis, for audio yes.

Arturia Storm 3.0

Posted by clubkidnycnyc on Jan-02-2005 17:35:

Timothy

the main problem i have with it is sometimes it hangs when i try to use it as a rewire ,then you get the error reinstall reason engine

but if you close Cakewalk and open reason as a stand alone its fine

thats the only issue i have with it then again i could always export my audio to .wav and import it to any sequencer.

no i never really gave much effort to the interal synths in reason always used outside trance vsts.

but i will try out some of those sequencers you guys mentioned

thanks

arturia storm and ejay are now in my list

Posted by superddman on Jan-03-2005 10:56:

Out of the ones I mentioned I would recommend first trying:
- fl studio
- cubase
- logic
- ableton live

I think these 4 are good for electronic music.

exactly.. mac was better in audio/graphics before, but not anylonger.. it's just a mather of taste now.

And of course THE software sequencer EVERY professional uses these days:

Magix Music Maker

I see one of these what's better threads everyday, just search or look back a few pages on the forum.

But might as well contribute to the chitter chatter.

I mainly use FL studio, b/c it's what I started on and I've pretty much learned alot about production using it, I also use Cubase. I tryed Reason but that didn't work out for me so well, Logic, Ableton, etc.. never used them.

I used to have that rewire problem when I used an older version of Cubase SX. Nowadays I haven't encountered any rewire problems anymore.

So, my guess is that a patch or upgrade of Cakewalk would solve your rewire problem.

btw, this is not a Reason problem but a Rewire problem

Which version of Reason are you using btw?

Posted by clubkidnycnyc on Jan-04-2005 22:31:

Actually i fixed the problem i just erased the file in cakewalk and created a new file,my guess is the other file was corrupt its fine now.

yep....a well configured pc will never crash...most of the ppl buy'it from the shop without knowing what is really inside.my advice:buit your own pc and look for the hispec accesories.i got a p4(2.8) + 2 gb ram(corsair 3200mhz)+ 200gb hdd(maxtor sata)...NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH CUBASE - ABLETON - REASON.
