Banning certain type of TA's

There are certain immature dolts who do not put forth intelligent debates. Their arguements soley consist of personal attacks & flaming. We all have differing opinions but we must be able to discuss them in a mature manner. I realize 80% of this board are NOT adults however I'm sick & tired of fighting w/children who do not agree w/me & simply tell me to fuck off! I LOVE this board & what its about I just wish ppl would be more respectful & not so immature.

yeah, but.. how to know that from the beginning? and U can't ban someone with dial-up, means to ban all users from that host...
anyway, IO don't know any better sollution than just to ignore them and then jail them by the mods... yet.

I mean, Swamper could make a personality test when U sign with Ta, but...

it's true that there are some wankers who insult u just because u say "Tiesto didn't give a nice set" and they should be banned from here ... morons

boring, we all know that its not gonna be easy 2 accomplish somekind of argeement

What about if every TA should write a small text, up to 40 lines, about the expectations from the forum, the nature of the dialog, etc., before having his membership approved ? that surely should keep a lot of these wankers out there...

being able to write a coherent text can be painfull to these people who can only make empty 30 characters posts...

Just note i have nothing against ppl who make a 1 line post. But when :

70% of that line is made of fuck-this-fuck-that stuff...
30% is a pronoum relative to other persons in the thread.

And this kind of post rarely appears alone...

sorry i have to disagree with that nuba... the reason is that most people are here for the music only.. they dont even go on the boards or anything.. or they rarely post.. and if you start giving them little tests... they will go find music somewhere else.. and we dont want that...

we should think about other ideas.. im sure theres a way cause I like twilogoddess am so sick of some bastards who think they are sooooo smart flaming people everyday... and 99% of them are newbies...


i was thinking isnt there like a program that doesnt allo u to type curse words or something..'as i can clearly remember.. i've been to sites that have such kinds of programs that if you type fuck it doesnt print it on the post until u change it opr something.. i know this sounds so weird... but it just an idea..

I just feel like I had to put a newbies perspective in this. I've been reading these boards since the beginning of the year trying to get a better understanding of the music that puts me in a world like nothing else. I finally had just join up to a member of this board a month ago cause I felt like I was ready to put my two cents, but there are times when I don't feel comfortable replying or when I do it is a one liner reply. Sometime it is hard to get up and reply to a thread without getting flamed out of the water because of our opinion.
I have a lot of respect for the people who are regular posters on the board and I value the opinion on the topic threads, hopefully sometime soon I will able to add to that!

Sorry in advance for my rambling

If any of you have a problem with another member of the forums then either PM a Mod ( i say PM a mod first cos Swamper is hell of a busy at the moment with site updates and stuff ) Or Swamper and ask them to look at the thread / post in question and then that Mod or Swamper can either close it, delete the offending post and then we can keep an eye on the member that made the flame and if it is a regular occurance then steps will be taken to remove that member from the forums.

As you are entitled to your veiws and are allowd to post them, the same applies to all on TA.com within reason of course
Personal attacks / flame wars / racisim etc is not what we want here,
just good arguements and debate over the music we love without having to see some idiot tell us to "fuck off" cos thats the only arguement that they have.

You fucken kidding me??? YOUR POSTS ARE EXTEMELY ARROGANT, IGNORANT AND FULL OF SHIT. Fighting with children huh? It's YOU that starts the flames by starting these threads saying crap like "I've just saw tiesto and he wasn't playing new tunes". To tell you the truth I don't think you've seen anyone live in your whole fucking life. If you did you would have a lot more respect for them and you wouldn't care if they played old tunes or not. How old are you? You must b e one of the 90% that isn't an adult. Nearly all of your threads conist of the same rubbish and end up with 5 pages of swearing and abuse.

I agree wit h you Blik, I havent even posted in one of the threads twilogoddess opens because its not even worth it, everytime she opens a thread, its either flaming a good Dj (that i be tyou she doesnt know shit) or it doesnt make any sense,
I read a lot of posts, i dont agree on the flamers either, and im one the people in here who dont take shit from anyone so yes i do curse a lot sometimes but i have a bad temper sometimes, but when you are giving site suggestions when you are the first to start flames, then that is bullshit.

It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL to see how a thread that was started to prevent further flaming turns out as a flmae war against the very creator of it... nevertheless, as I do not let myself into judging ppl to quickly, and trying to either understand them or ignore them (ppl like James M can hardly be understood...).

Wicked Neo has gave an answer on this thread that, even if U didn't know it by now, U do at this time. don't fall into the trap of saying that if a guy flames U, and U're an older/longer TA, he must be banned or at least sent to jail just because he's new.

cuz I don't think any of you started on TA.com with 400+ posts, or more, and nobody for sure is the Pope here (ignorants should know that the Catholic church considers the Pope as being the only human being that is never wrong). we all make mistakes. some should better shut up if they don't know something for sure, or just express their humble opinion... not acting like the above mentioned personality.

k, enough. After all, we are all opened to flames. maybe I'll be the next one under attack. but then...

from my observation, twilogoddess has been taking her fair share of cheap shots. i briefly skimmed that tiesto/oakenfold thread, it was the other people losing their cool first. i got in about 3-4 pages and she hasn't even lost hers. she just kept making valid arguments against her flames. i don't see what is wrong with that. that pic she posted was just as much for humour as it is as a comparison between the 2 DJ's. people are just taking these forums way too seriously. just chillax for crying out loud.

But this is a forum as a whole. Music sharing is only a part of it. And I don't belive file broadcasting is Swamper's main goal.

In my humble opinion, the richness of this forum lies in the member's dialog/interaction. And to be here kinda-of implies you are able to respect some basic (common sense) rules.

If you lurk around the forum for some time ( like I did: 7 months) you'll see how good this forum is. And a small mandatory text composition would not be able to keep you outside

Twilogoddess, on several occasions I have not liked your posts.

For example on one post I remember you said "That's bullshit, I work for Mute Records" and in another you said "I know my shit". With that attitude it's not wonder a lot of people don't like you.

Second, if anyone's had problems with Twilogoddess in the past, its me. Since day 1 that i signed up, i've been locked up with her in debate constantly (until recently)..... And i don't think she's a child at all. Of all the arguements i've had, she's always had a good arguement to put forth (although oftentimes its the exact same arguement), but she doesn't flame unless instigated.... So enough of pointing fingers people. Sure, sometimes she gets upset and "bursts" every once in awhile, but who doesn't? If enough buttons get pushed, anyone can blow up.

I personally don't think there's a problem. No site is going to be perfect. I would not come here if there were no debates and flamers... kinda adds personality to these forums. And unfortunately, there's ALWAYS going to be arguements - its a fact of life. Everyone has different opinions, and in some cases that will create mud-slinging.

I think the real problem is in how people express their opinions...... for example recently (and i won't mention names), we had a thread comparing two items, and after someone gave their opinion on something, another person called them "stupid" and told them to "think before they post"........ on a thread asking one's OPINION!!!! this is the kind of stuff we have to control, and this involved two veterans, not newbies!

So i say stop blaming newbies, time to start looking at maybe our OWN attitudes and HOW WE EXPRESS OUR OPINIONS!

and one other thing...
ive been lurking on this board for probably over a year before i even registered, and this board has NO PROBLEMS WITH FLAMING compared to some of the other boards i am a part of. ive seen some flaming activity here, but trust me. i could list some sites that have far worse times dealing with things like this.

point taken, but i don't think thats what the problem is. I've posted many times in threads on TA that i don't like PvD. And i don't get flamed at all. I get people asking me why, etc... but no flames. BECAUSE its all in how you say it. When i don't like something, i post "so-and-so really doesn't do it for me." or "i don't enjoy so-and-so's track selection." This is a soft way of telling people you don't like something, and avoids flame wars.
Others on this site, when they don't like something, will say "so-and-so is a piece of shit!" or "so-and-so SUCKS! I can't believe i totally WASTED $40 to go see them.... biggest WASTE of 2 hours of my life." I can understand these things, but being so animated and hostile about it is what causes the flame wars. There are people who don't even LIKE the so-and-so DJ who come in to defend because of such a bad attitude.
This is what i think some people are talking about when referring to Twilogoddesses' attitude.
Basically, if we just put forth a good arguement as to why we don't like someone, and refrain from calling the DJ a "shit" DJ, we can prevent a LOT of those old flame wars (especially the ones that come out of the Oakey vs. Tiesto vs. PvD debates....)

most assuredly when its about a topic that some people are very passionate about, it would be pretty obvious people would react harshly to comments that aren't trying to be neutral in nature..
