Side-chain problem

Hey,

I have sidechaining set-up with a kick and bassline. It works good until the kick stops for a couple bars, and of course the bass goes crazy. How do you guys get around this problem?

Nvm I figured out how to automate the bypass on the comp and it sounds ok. A little volume difference though.

What compressor are you using?

Waves c1.

When sidechaining properly with the C1, the kick should be not be audible. So I simply have a kick triggering the bass ducking, and have a seperate clone, or copy of that kick playing without going through the compressor. So now you can just have the side chaining kick playing without the real kick, and you wont hear the drum but will hear the resulting bass ducking.

I usually mute the kick in a place in its chain after it branches off toward the sidechainer.

Oh alright thx guys. So, if I have a kick on lets say channel one of battery, do I need to readd the sample to another channel in order to make the clone of the track, or is there another way to do it?

You can't select a track in reason and clone it?
