Oh...OK

Looking forward to hearing your remix of Believe
The Gift Of Melody was a pretty nice hardtrancer.

Gift Of Melody was ace , would be cool for you to have a look at some of nu-nrgs stuff, a lot of it is euphoric trance which i think could be remixed into a harder sound

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jan-08-2005 12:15:

Isn't it a bit egoistic (sp.) to put your own tracks to your top 10?

The Believe remix has been doing the damage over the last few months. Dropped it on my DJ tour to Australia and New Zealand and the response was massive everytime.

Glad u liked Gift Of Melody mate. Yea, I like Nu-NRG's productions. Hopefully I'll get a remix job from one of their tracks soon.

It's not meant to look vain. That's just the tunes that work well when I play out.

NO!

if your going to produce tracks, whats the point in producing tracks you dont like!?!?!

And if you are good at producing then obviously some of your favourite tracks will be ones that you made yourself

So what?
I think its perfectly alright to promote one's own tracks. He's an upcoming and promising producer, so whats wrong if he's promoting his own tracks? By your logic, so many radio shows by various DJ's have a large majority of their own productions in their tracklists. Does that make them egotistical?

How are playing a DJ set and posting a random list on a website the same thing, exactly?

What is this bollocks?

Your top 10 is horrible, too.

Technikal's new tracks is pure quality. He's changed his sound a bit, and the one's I've charted is extremely uplifting.

Nice

Looks like quality stuff there Pierre! Can't wait to hear some of it!!!

Fair enough...
Here's John Askew's last top 10 update from his website.
29.11.04
1. Michael Splint "Secrets" (Askew re-edit)
2. Marco Bailey "Unknown" (White)
3. Thomas Datt "Alone" (Discover)
4. Tranquility Base "Surrender" (John Askew remix)
5. Arc in the Sky "Kissed" (Discover Dark)
6. Cult 45. "Curlie Gets Muddy" (White)
7. Mike Koglin "The Silence 2005" (Noys)
8. John O'Callaghan & Bryan Kerney "Restricted Motion" (John Askew Remix) (Discover)
9. Kyau vs Albert "Falling Anywhere" (Re-edit) (Euphonic)
10. Leama & Moor "Fact of the Matter" (Lost Language)

By your analogy, he would be egotistical too?

My point is, all DJ's promote their current and upcoming productions in their top 10 and their radio shows. I don't see anything wrong in that.

That's just something I've always been pondering about...

I never include my own tracks in my top 10's since I know I wouldn't be able to judge them objectively... one always tends to think his productions are better than others' since they mean more to him.

Anyway, carry on with the actual thread.

Getting back to the thread, P.H.A.T.T'S list is above average. Nothing really groundbreaking but a decent list.

Well, it depends what you mean by "top 10", whether it is your 10 favourite tracks at the moment or which 10 tracks that you've been playing the most lately. Of course, the "objective judgement"-part is completely disregarded by most, since they'll take whatever opportunity they have to promote their own material. For instance, it's very handy that your tune of the year is Marcos - Cosmic String when your name is Paul van Dyk, it was released on Vandit and Judge Jules asks you what your tune of the year is on his show on Radio 1.
