Mike Upton - Skyscape [Prog/Epic Trance]
Ok this is the follow up to the remix i did of lukes Oasis. its kinda in a similar style of Prog speed but with quite epic sounds as i think it works well. This one isnt quite finished so all comments on how to complete or make it better would be greatly appriciated.
Oh and this originally started out as a collab between me and chris shepherd on the melody but it become so far removed from that i think its safe to call it my own now.

hope you all like
I don't know what to say.
other than that I like it.
hhmm.. seems like the piano is a bit drowned at some points...
Hmm, the rhythm is kinda "clunky", the percs don't really flow. Your bass and beat are very weak, I suggest adding a layer of sub-bass and changing the kick to a punchier one.
The piano is great as well as the melody.
Overall it's quite a solid track but needs some FX layers and the earlier mentioned perc and bass reworked.
sounds relaly nice and mellow
i really like it.
i would only suggest that the bassline be stronger and you can make it all kick more dramatically
good job cant wait to hear the full
i like it and the piano is nice, that breakbeatish part with the piano sound al azarish, mint, yeah, nothing more to say really
other than you should add more hardstyle elements and a vocal that says "fuck me in my bassdrum"
melody is very nice, ambience is great, just need to sort the bit into the breakbeat but i've just told you this anyway mate
nice stuff

cheers for the feedback guys, im glad the piano has gone down well. i was a bit worried about it!
all the comments made so far i pretty much agree with. There is a lack of fx atm as i havent got round to much of that yet. With the bassline, this is the 4th bassline thats been on this track and i still cant get it right it seems
but on the whole u all seemed to enjoy it so all is good
nicely done! good job
bass + beat need some serios beefage
the piano doesnt sit too well with the guitar, i dunno whether its the notesm but they sound like they are clashing and fighting for space in the mix rather than harmonising
with them melodeues will be mint when its done tho
i like the breaks
Hey hey,
Pretty clear production. I like the percs.
I'm not at all fan of the piano. The melody it plays doesn't really grab me and it's not easy to stick it in my mind. It drowns a bit sometimes.
Now the break is a bit too long, I think there should be happening more.. and there's really too much piano in there
No real climax, maybe you should build up more to the end of the break.
Imo there are too much kicks at the break beat part.
Productionwise it's pretty good to me. Keep up
-Jay
Mike, strange one this.
To me it sounds like a superb track, but encased in some kind of 'limiting shell'
Everything seems to be there, it just needs to break through the 'shell' a bit.
It's pleasant, the melodies are great and the ideas are good, but as mentioned, bass and general rhythm could be toned up.
Neverthesless, promising stuff...

thanx guys appriaciative of all the comments so far
this is the reason i put it on here in this state and not fully finished, because i knew aslong as people liked the piano then i could be onto a winner and i wanted to get every1's view on it all before doing all the hard work of fx's and such.
the structure is pretty crap and jumpy atm but thats cuz i threw it together. it shall all flow a lot better in the final version and hopefully should be pretty good

I like it a lot!
1 criticism - in the break there is too much piano. I like the melody, and I'll go against the tide and say I like the bass and percussion.
Dont like the breakbeat though.
really like it mate, would love a final once its finished, would definetley play this out.
keep up the good work.
- nice ambience
- pianos sound good in the break at 1:00
- after that is gets a bit boring, things seem to repeat over and over
- add stronger bassline to make it more prog. sounding
Downloaded this a couple days ago, just got around to listening to it:
The melody is really nice and dreamy, and I'm in love with pianos. During the break the piano sounds kind of thin and computery though, so maybe use a different sample, remove a little delay, or beef up the mids a tad with eq.
All of your synths sound really really nice, but try and bring some of them into the foreground more. Everything sounds like its playing behind the piano instead of around it.
I agree about the bassline, it's not driving the track at all at the moment. Sometimes simplicity is the answer, I'd say go for a simple but driving bassline instead of a complex one.
Good work, looking forward to the finished piece.
cheers guys, all comments are taken on board to complete the track and i agree with most of them
I will change the bassline, and the structure to make it less repetative hopefully it should all sound better.
ahhh, i love the breakdown where the plucked starts to filter in, complimenting the piano...
the melody for the piano actually sounded really random to me at first (the structure of it) but once the beat comes back in, it sounds a lot better... i wish you had a huge build up leading into the main section, woudl have built a good amount of anticipation, woulve have sounded fantastic
this song is growing on me, the melody gets better and better the further i go into this song. i think the percussion could be more worked on a little more (separate them) and i would like to hear a stronger pad to fill out the track
percs are good, bass is good, but that piano is driving me mad
piano is good, but a bit too much of it, id like to hear a variation of leads and use of other synths
so beef the lead up and thats it really.
though not my style, wont make me move much...im a fan of faster, more energetic trance
good production though, but just not for me
i dont wanna go so far as to say theres too much piano in the breakdown, but maybe ease up on the delay, as it really jumbles things when you're playing a lot of notes. the piano melody sounds really cool once the beat comes in. the percussion could definitely use a bit of help, but i like the general chunky sound it has. i don't really like the breaks section. i think the kick is far too active for the mood that you set throughout the rest of the tune. ease up on the kick and do some nice choppy snares which arent so drastic.
