'Trance' Tracks in video games

Every so often, I come by a track in a game and I think "man, that's awesome and would make for an awesome remix"

My favorite so far has been the music in metroid prime when in phendrana drifts.

If you want it IM me (RIPassion07). I remixed it a while back, but it still has a lot more potential. If you liked Marc vision - Timegate from ISOS 1 you will LOVE this track.

What are some 'trance' tracks from video games you like

Another one would be the track in FF7 where nanaki sees his father dead.

(should i have put this in the gaming forum? would i get more of a response there?)

sample or stfu

There was a thread awhile back about Trance & Videogames. It got pretty heated in there.

I'll say what I said then. Track 5 from the game Rez (for ps2) is this remix of Fear by Adam Freeland that's cool as hell, but the soundtrack to the game doesn't have it (not the in game version), and the original sounds like piss. Anyway, it's a cool track, but one that I can't get my hands on.

Oh, and the first time I heard one of my now top 10 favorite songs of all time, Orbital - Funny Break was in the game Frequency. (Only decent song that game had though, including oakie).

the original PC eurofighter game (TFA?) had some very nice audio electro midi style trance tracks which i could and did listen to on their own a lot.

also a game called "hellfire" on the sega megadrive had some really sweet tracks.

also i remember screamer 2 having some nice moozik....

right now though, nothing like having a nice DJ live set on winamp, and fire up NFS underground

the following comes firmly under the "you had to be there" category:
i took the shortcut, did a huge jump through the skateboard half pipe, right-locked, did a 360 degree turn in the air, and hit the road at the EXACT moment as "nu nrg - butterfly" broke, after the build up halfway through.

it was fucking wicked like i say u had to be there though

Well... interesting thread, since im Marc vision - Timegate (Update) fan, this and Cabala - Dark Blue are maybe one of the best trax in ISOS 1, and I always appreciated games OST, and I think like the thread starter, some could be remixed.
My favourites OSTs are:
- from SNK Neo Geo Games, from the King of fighters, fatal fury, art of fighting, etc... series...
- Capcom games I like Street Fighters and Rival Schools OSTs.
- Sonic osts are good too
- Streets of rage its other great example from producer Yuzo Koshiro
- Final Fantasy with Nobuo Uematsu
- Bust a Groove, a dance moves game, kinda puzzle.

Its pretty old but if anyone played "Battle Cars" on SNES I swear there's a track on there that was sampled and is in a newer trance song. If I ever find it(the song or a sample from the game) I'm definitely posting it.

Posted by AlphaStarred on Jan-09-2005 03:05:

err..i can't remember any trance tracks from FFVII lol

i have the soundtrack too...there's one though, that's trancey like and full of energy and certainly one of my fav. tracks in the game; namely, when near the end you descend the mountain and jump from rock to rock to reach Jenovah..if you remember that tune they play it's fuckin sick!!

Once again, IM me at RIPassion07 for the tune from metroid! (stfu or sample? I offered to give it, tard! )

Posted by Camwin on Jan-10-2005 02:29:

Some of the Street Fighter themes, Final Fantasy and the Main Title song on Kingdom Hearts. But i know there were others too, i'll try and remember.

Jet Set was awsome! I had Jet Grind and bought an Xbox soley for JSRF. Midnight Club 2 had some nice songs from Felix Da Housecat and a whole bunch more.

Oh ya, I forgot about that.

BTW, I can't believe you guys havn't mentioned MEGAMAN.
Some of the songs are really good in that game, but probably don't fall in the exact category of "trance", but do fall in dance.

Also, Ridge Racer 5 on PS2 has house and techno tunes.

Posted by tribu on Jan-10-2005 06:44:

Original Castlevania has some potential for some remixes. Maybe the third level.

If anyone remembers the game Maniac Mansion, a few things from that game could be excellent as well.

Im sure people already mentioned Megaman, several of which have been remixed.

Why not Double Dragon?

(these are all nes games)

Since I first heard it, I've thought Estuera - Tales from the South sounds like it came from a video game. Not that it's from one, but the melody especially sounds like it could have come from a Nintendo game with the way it was produced. Nevertheless a good track.

Posted by Camwin on Jan-10-2005 11:17:

OH!!!!!!!!!!! The Oil Ocean Stage on Sonic 2 would be a real good Prog trance tune!!!!!!!!!! i wouldn't mind rmxing that! and some other sonic tunes would be good too.

Posted by scAza on Jan-10-2005 11:59:

the music in wipeout 3 on ps1 (i think), was fuckin awsome! had stuff like>

sasha - feisar
sasha - xpander
pau van dyk - avenue

so futuristic and cool

Also, altho its not full on trance, the ambient soundtrack all the way thru deus ex 1 (on playstation anyway), was fuckin awsome!!!

Yea i love that BGM too.. in fact i love all the songs from Metroid Prime 2 Echoes (MP2E), Metroid ZeroMission, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime.

"Sector 1 (SRX) & Fighting Nightmare Sector 5 (ARC)" of Metroid Fusion and "The Hive where you found the Annihilator Beam" Of MP2E are my personal fravoritez.

They Don't really sound trance to me. It's more to Dark Ambient.

Wow. Has anyone here heard of Overclocked? Mostly amateur but there are some diamonds in the rough.

As for trance in games, the old Need For Speed titles used to have it; not so sure about current ones, though, as I haven't kept up on that series.

The Robotron remake for PSX had some slammin' hard German techno throughout.

And, yeah, what thread of this type can go on without more mention of the WipEout series? Classic!

Posted by RIPassion on Jan-10-2005 23:41:

I put the 'trance' in quotes for the same reason you guys are whining that those tracks aren't trance

I forgot about megaman... man, megaman 3 on NES had a GOOD soundtrack.

Hybrid - Finished Symphony is actually in SSX1 on PS2. (on the "unknown" level). That's actually the track that got me into trance... hearing it in that game... I remember searched finished symphony in Kazaa and going from there years ago :P

Posted by blackrain on Jan-11-2005 05:58:

Bust a groove eh....that was a wicked game. Really hard though

Posted by {b.s.e.} on Jan-11-2005 06:05:

GTA3 has a decent drumnbass track on one of the radio stations.

Posted by Sykonee on Jan-11-2005 14:20:

Rollcage 2 had their soundtrack sponsered by Moving Shadow Records.

Posted by Dark Oracle on Jan-14-2005 23:49:

DDR

Posted by RickyM on Jan-14-2005 23:55:

Sonic2 Marble Zone sounds like Solar Stone vs Scott Bond - 3rd Earth !!!

And the song from FFVII - where Aeris dies, is classic - I have the orchestral version - PM me

If i get the notes right then a remix is in order
