Smile Just bought a mixer, need help setting it up, thanks.

Hello all,

Sorry I dont post very often but I just bought a new mixer and I am having trouble setting it up.

I have connected one of my decks up so far to Channel 3 and when I play a vinyl and have my headphones plugged in I can only hear out of one ear, how can I get sound to come out of both ears of the headphones? I want to get output in both ears and so it also comes out of both channels for the line in on the sound card.

I have a Gemini PS-626i Mixer

Thanks!

yes, the wires from the first of the 2 decks are plugged in the red and white areas of channel 3... should they be going into phono 3 or line 3 ? its a 3 channel mixer, sorry for being thick, very new to DJ'ing and just getting started

what would you recommend pluggin the left hand deck into, line 1, phono 1, line 2, phono 2, line 3 or phono 3?

Cheers,

phono 1

Phono Is an amp for the turntables since turntables give out a VERY low signal...line will not amp it and if you put a cdj or your computer on a phono, it will kill your ears if you turn the stereo up & forget to turn it down before trying anything & remember to switch it to phono above the faders

also, on try moving that fader underneath cue level & the three channel buttons (the sideways one)

Hehe okay, let me give that a go now...should sound then come out of both ears of my headphones? I need to move the other deck from my other room later on.. but for now I wanted to listen to some tunes on vinyl before i move the other deck.

hmm

I just plugged in the red and white rca cables into phono 1 and when I flicked the switched to line 1 / phono 1 instead of MIC I am seeing nothing on the EQ

Flip the Phono/Line Switch to phono above the 3 faders

Posted by Aquaplex on Jan-09-2005 05:48:

the cue - pgm fader is moved all the way to PGM, I have put the fader in the middle (it says channel 2 for left and channel 3 for right) :/

Posted by Aquaplex on Jan-09-2005 05:50:

I did that dude

channel 1 is flicked to "line 1 / phono 1"
channel 2 is flicked to phono 2
channel 3 is flicked to phono 3

cue assign button is pressed in for CH-1 but I am getting no display on the EQ

cue/pgm slider is all the way to the right (PGM)
fader is in the middle

Yeah...I don't know about the headphones, the port could be blown, or your headphones to mic adapter could be blown

For the deck thing, plug it into Phono 2, and move the crossfader to the middle and then flip the switch to phono, above the faders

I highly doubt the headphones are buggered, I bought them BRAND NEW, and they worked fine when I tested them on an old amplifier I had in the other room where I used to listen to music on 1 deck that I had set up.

I'll give the phono 2 thing a go now.

Should look exactly like that....

Wobble the headphones adapter a bit too...and the headphones plugin thing

Or the needle isn't on the vinyl...or you think it is, but the arm is raised

Posted by Aquaplex on Jan-09-2005 05:55:

it does mate, I now get EQ display but only on 1 of the 2 channels so thats why headphones only have sound coming out of 1 ear....

check the back of the turntable then...something has to be loose there...is the turntable grounded to the mixer?
