Hi,

i'd recommend the V-Station when it comes to max. 3 or 4 Voices, but a little bit of tweaking is necessary. And of course the Virus PoCo.

Edirol HQ Orchestral VSTi is by far the best I think for a full orchestral sounds.

or hypersonic(steinberg)

If you have a LOT of cash, the best way to get sampled strings (or sampled anything else for that matter) is to buy Tascam's Giga Studios and a sample set. You can get the VST adapter and you'll be shocked by what you can do. I use it to sequence classical orchestrations before production. You can get portato, plucked, etc. to sound completely real. Juno Reactor used Giga for the track that closes the third Matrix. The ethnic and Indian instruments were, as I understand, sampled. If you want that deliberately synthy trance-string sound, then ignore all of the above, however.

Edirol you get all of that aswell, plucked, spiccatto. everything, I think it sounds wayyyy better than hypersonic though, I have that too

I made a almost but not quite string sound from the JP-80x0 with Pro-53.
