I'm a total n00b to this world and I need some serious help people, this is doing my swede in! Basically yesterday I brought 2x Stanton Str8-80s and an Sk-6f mixer second hand and they're in mint condition, I'm really pleased with my purchase but the mixer's giving me some grief! The crossfader position does not affect the volume of either turntable until it's 90% in the other direction if you get me, so for beatmixing it's useless at the current state it's in really, I can only chop in and out. Even when it starts to affect the track volume, it doesn't fade out, it just drops out completely. I've checked the cross fader curve settings and even those don't change the problem, apart from change the point at which the output completely cuts off for the relevant turntable. How do I create a curve that smoothly cuts off the volume? Please help!

dont use your crossfader use the volume faders...set the crossfader in the middle then regulate the volume faders by moving 1 up then the other down thats about the only thing you can do for low range mixers.

I just wouldn't have thought so because it's not exactly a crossfader, it doesn't even fade from one record to the other, it just chops the record off completely when it nearly gets far left/right. That's a bit shite really, . If it is meant to be like that I'll be well ticked off!

if the mixer has the origional fader you should be able to adjust the cf curve, but if a focus fader is installed, you can't adjust the crossfader curve.

Btw, don't use the crossfader for mixing, get used to the up-faders b/c you'll have much better control than w/ the crossfader any day.

My PCV uses to cut the volume totally off when it got near the end too but now i got my X1500 and beautiful curve

Yeah, sounds like a focus fader. If it didn't come with the other crossfader, you may be able to grab one online...but its a good reason to go to upfaders.

You have to keep in mind that the mixer you have is a battle mixer. As jupiterone said, just put the crossfader in the middle and use the volume gains to do your mixing. If your new at mixing you'll learn sooner or later volume faders work better than the crossfader for long medlodic mixes.
