splitting mpeg audio?

for some reason, my computer saved dj astrid's set as mpeg audio .mpa
instead of .mp3..........i cant split this file

does anyone know what i can do to convert it to mp3?

already tried that.....maybe its my splitting prog thats shit......

for some reason, it does a great job splitting mp3s but maybe now it wont recognize it....i'll give it a try again

i think it might be a win xp problem

mpeg audio, by default is designated to real player...even though it will launch winamp when i click it, its not considered an mp3, apparently!
