my first track of the new year. "The Upper Room"

I had alot of fun making this track. I even made my girlfriend do some talking in the middle of the track.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

The Upper Room - 138bpm / 7:03

Cool melody, though the synths you've used are a bit cheese in my opinion. They reak of cheap software. With a little more synthesis work this track could be huge.

hey man, thanks for the words. The synths used are the zt3a and the Vanguard.

Can u expand on synthesis more?

I think the percs lack presence, from the kick to the hats... they all sound like such cheap samples.

Listening:

That's definitely z3ta panned :P
The bass sounds like it could be more rolling rather than KICK bass KICK bass KICK bass KICK bass...

The piano is totally ... uhh un fx'd? Or something like that... It seems to lack presence..

K, listened to whole thing. Basically what State of matter said... I think all the synth reek of software cheese, but the melody is a keeper (i'm sure you'll update it over time, something will come to you and it will become more full)

The percussion doesnt really change and is really simple...

Basically, I love the composition and don't have a huge taste for the sounds you used. You could add more fx too

edit: just listened to your track sick loop. See how much better the sounds fit the composition and how well the percs fit the movement? Try to "sick loop" this track

i agree with everything thats been said. the percussion i can live with, but those synth sounds are really plain. maybe its the lack of fx on them, but they just become painful listen to. the offbeat bass is fine too imo. great melodies, but you need some fx, reverb, delay etc.

thanks for the review gentlemen! It seems that Im always afraid to put too much reverb and delay on shit,so Im gonna go back and work it out!!

I appreciate the honesty.
