Party Hat Bren-F - Beyond The Clouds

Heres a sample of my latest work in progress:

Bren-F - Beyond The Clouds (V1 Sample) 112kbps

A few people have said that my last track 'Open Air' was a bit on the happy side
So I have decided to go fore something more on the depressing side for my latest venture

I'm aware that the percussion is a little thin at the moment and the track is in need of background niceties/fx ect to make it a little more interesting, but this is something I will fix later on as it is still early days

Any other thoughts/suggestions/critique are welcomed...
Let me know what you think !

Cheers

PS - Fundy, don't worry mate. I haven't forgotton our track - I'll try to get it sent across to ya tomorrow buddy. Don't worry, it's only 6 months since we started it.....

- I like the fast hi-hats, maybe make them louder.
- Those synth stabs may have a little too much reeverb on them
- Choirs are good, but play with the LFO controls, so that the sound changes, at least in the beginning
- Guitar needs to be a bit more prominent.
- Bass souns pretty good, though I would cut it even lower.

Very simple, emotional, and cleanly produced. Top track.

Less and less people seem to be reviewing anything these days. Shame, this is great stuff.

great track, i'm liking this a lot more than that happier tune

but i wouldn't call this depressing either. The bass, imo, actually sounds fine where it's at, that dirtiness of it gives the track a nice unique sound.

melody is nice and mellow, not too catchy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because it's not some epic anthem. i wish you introduced your lead in the breakdown, as the breakdown doesn't offer much besides pads filtering in.

great percusion (even if its only earlie stage ), bassline is ok but maybe has a bit too many freq?? verygood pads, i like this a bit dark atmosphere , great melodie i like the sound you use for it (you use vsts??) overall very solid track , keep it up

>beautiful choirs/strings
>beautiful instruments
>nice beat
>cleanly produced : +1

8,5/10 for the moment

wanna hear this finished !

Absolutely wonderful. If you're looking for remixers, I'd love to have a stab at this beauty.

Posted by .A.Y. on Jan-11-2005 13:07:

this acid(?) sound at the start is nice
bassline is cool!

the clap is good but i think you should make him stronger

the choir & the strings are great!

it sounds like almost everything is a little bit too much panned right, but maybe its just me?

anyway really cool track!
good job!

I don't like the bassline nor the sound of it. The pads are great though Nice and chill tune.

Posted by TOR on Jan-11-2005 15:14:

definitely a melody i like more than Open Air

lovely choirs, though i feel they conflict with the pads a bit. they need to be more seperated from each other and should cover more stereo space.

there are a few other issues too, but since this is only a sample, i'm sure you'll sort it out for the final version.

lots of potential in this one.

hey, bren!

again some great work from you!
bassline could use a lil less cutoff, imo! would sound a bit deeper...
choir is fine! great melody of pads!
some nice plucked chors as well!
kick is kewl btw!
percs have a basic structure but sound great...

hopefully we hear the full version soon!

Usual high standard of production, very clean. Personally I prefer the happy stuff but this is ok. Looking forward to hearing the finished piece.

Yay!

I won't be back for another week or so though. I guess one more delay won't matter too much though...

bass is pro-stuff! Now some more powerfull synths plz

Posted by dannyc on Jan-12-2005 01:12:

ah yes thats what i'm talking about bren, nice and depressing. i love it bren in fact i want the full version. i think its great dont think you need to add anymore to it. keep it up my man

Posted by KilldaDJ on Jan-12-2005 01:50:

nice production, good structure.

though not my style, i like something with a really bouncy bass, driving leads and pumping percs

not saying its a bad track or anything, its very good, just not my style

Posted by _Marco_ on Jan-12-2005 02:00:

sounds really good bren
bass is nice to me
the synths could have been stronger & this guitar sounds a bit out of place imo.
But the melody is great and the sounds are very well chosen
keep it up

Posted by tylerc on Jan-12-2005 02:58:

sounds really nice man. i really like the percussion where it is. i think you could polish up that choir sound a bit more, as it does seem to conflict with some other pad in that area. not a lot happened in the breakdown so maybe bring that plucked thing in there as ethereal mentioned.

sounds great so far, very well produced, nice sounds.

keep it up.

i don't remember if i already commented on this at Anjuna but this is a very nice tune, i think you should carry on with this tune and make it huge!!!!!!! Good luck and keep em comin

Cheers for all the feedback everyone !

I'm definatly gonna improve the breakdown, more fx/better build ect.
and I'll take the other points people have raised on board

@ Mart: I'll sort a midi out for you mate !

They are from a rather nifty (and large ) Akai classic choir multisample pack I have

Posted by djrenco on Jan-12-2005 20:29:

sounds awesome (y)
- cool bass, a little reason
- i love that phat 'bass fx' sound
- great pads/choirs
- synths are good
- just the bitrate sucks

will spin this for sure if there comes a full version

Posted by RIPassion on Jan-12-2005 22:46:

Nice work!

Maybe some fx/panning on the choir

You could *MAYBE* experiment with a light acid line after the final buildup and melody to complement the bass line, which I think needs to be altered somehow.. maybe less cutoff or something.

What are you using to make this? just curious

Posted by Dj_Underwater on Jan-12-2005 23:24:

I don't like bassline ,percusion is ok but nothing special, melody is good but you should add some fx to it .Overall nice but a bit cheesy for my taste
